More and more I’m seeing kids come out transformed after just their first pre-season at AFL level. It used to seem as though the first pre-season the clubs wouldnt expect too much, and the draftees wouldnt expect too much of themselves. Now they all seem to want to have that Nick Daicos/Harry Sheezel type immediate impact.
It does seem to be more difficult to immediately impact as a forward though. If we pick someone like Kako we’re just going to have to be patient.
Well he’s really only just come into draft calculations. He would need to put in a pretty big champs run to get up into the top 10. If that does happen, all the better really as it would push other kids down the order.
It really is becoming a very deep and even pool this year I feel.
If it does end up an even and deep pool then getting extra top 20ish picks would be a decent shout. But in that instance list managers from other teams would all be working with the same information.
Well, if we’re just picking him with a regular selection then he’s no different than any other draft candidate. I suppose having him in the JHA would give us more insight into his character and work ethic etc.
Having said that, he does seem to play a position of need and bring qualities that we lack. I certainly wouldnt be against us targeting him.
