The one thing you must give credit to Rosa for, is that he clearly had sat down with each club…… and had a conversation with each list manager about what their plans were, and how both parties can help each other to achieve their goals.
This is a breath of fresh air, because Dodoro was all about f*cking over every other club …. And getting the best deal to make him look like a genius.
Look at the pick swaps that were done…. They simply wouldn’t have happened under Dodoro. No club would be willing to work with him or trust him.
Also huge difference between a top 10 pick v 40. If Cox had been a top 40 pick, most on here would have accepted his shortcomings.
No doubt Ants will blame Covid for Cox being top 10
Two things can be true at the same time. Dodoro can be held accountable for his drafting, and we can accept that covid created significant chaos and uncertainty in the 2020 draft.
Because Munkara, Daveys, Ham, Mosquito, Hind, Redman, Saad, McKenna, Raz, Walla,Tsatas didn’t have pace???
You do realise there is no evidence that without the Kako rules changing we would have done that deal? We never had a Kako like circumstance with Dodorro so who knows how he’d have reacted.
Both 200cm, both top kicks off both feet, both incredibly agile for their size, both selected to play an AFL position that wasn’t their main one at U18 level.
The players chosen aren’t that different, and reflect who was available.
The players chosen are very different in my view.
Dodo never prioritised good kicking, the kids being of solid build is unusual for us, and the fact that our second rounders and beyond weren’t completely unknown is also a nice change.
You are living in a dream world if you think Dodoro would have got this result.
His track record proves this and I’m not referring to the players picked.
I’m referring to the strategy Rosa has implemented.
I don’t think Dodoro was equipped with the expertise and know how to pull off these pick swaps we are now blessed with.
Rosa was left with a ■■■■ hand to play with, and has played it brilliantly!
The concerns that I had about Cox prior to the draft, have turned out to be true unfortunately.
I was one of the biggest critics of Cox prior to that draft, and simply couldn’t see him being much more than a skinny 200cm player who had no natural position.
He would have been better suited to being a cross country runner, not a footballer.
I kind of agree, but its also a market place where there needs to be a seller and a buyer. Difficult to know if Dodo was even fielding offers of course… there were teams that traded 2020 picks into 2021, but it wasn’t easy from what I heard.
We did trade our 2020 second rounder to Giants as a part of the Caldwell deal which is something.
I like Dyson Sharp myself, an absolute brute who enjoys being physical. A mid mix of Duz, Calders, Tsatas and Sharp would put fear back into opposition teams.
Then you can have Martin, Merrett, SEH, Roberts, Johnson gliding past to laser into the forward line.
My god, I think I’m finally optimistic. It’s happening
You people are getting abit carried away over 1 decent draft. The list is still an absolute ■■■■■■■■■■■ and we’re not going anywhere with this senior core of players
Well in my senario it would have been two good ones, and pushing out Parish and some others for those kids to all be playing.
But I do agree the core needs turning over.
2MP hopefully gets sold to someone desperate for key forward depth, Tsatas comes on and Parish can leave, Lav finishes up this year.
With Stringer now gone, that’s most of them out.
And it couldn’t be unreasonable for most to happen end of next year.
Given Rosa’s ■■■■ sandwich of a position he’s been handed, he at least appears to have a handle on reality and the evidence to date gives us some hope he can execute a plan which may eventually get us out of this ■■■■ show.
