The 2024 Draft [no longer spec] Thread

Will become pick 9. Ashcroft and Lombard likely bids. So could be getting close to Kako bid

Is there any fast, clean, two way running midfielders? That’s what we need before another forward to bomb long to

He’s versatile and may start his career on a flank or a wing, but Xavier Lindsay is clean, runs hard both ways and is excellent by foot. I think he’s too good at winning stoppages not to become a midfielder in time:

Interesting write up, a kako v berry comparison. Interestingly berry has kicked the most goals in the Coates league this year.

Need Gold Coast and Collingwood to win today and we should be good to finish 12th (GC would need to beat Richmond next week).

Kako and Berry will be fantastic we can fix our small forwards issue in one draft

No issue taking both.

oh Kako is injured? Already Essingtoned before he joined even - should allow us easily to take our first pick then

For real?

If we can somehow manipulate another pick inside the bid of Kako we could get Berry and use our pick 7 or 8 on something else.

The article above comparing him to Berry stated he might not play again this season

So if Melbourne win today against the Suns, then one of Dees or Collingwood (who play each other next week) overtake us next week and bring our draft position in one.

But the better scenario is that Gold Coast beat Melbourne today and then Richmond in the final round whilst Collingwood knock off Melbourne next week (or Bris tonight). This would mean we slide up two draft spots rather than just one.

I just do not trust Gold Coast to do anything though.

Finishing 11th with the 4th worst percentage makes me sick.

No idea about any potential draftees. But for me our absolute biggest draft needs are:

  • ruck/forward who is a genuine aerial threat.
  • elite rebounding defender. Essentially Martin’s role but better, and allow Martin to be the player he should be.
  • small forward who can actually play, both offensively and defensively. Hopefully Kako ticks that box.

Hoping we can get one of the first 2 needs with our first round pick, followed by Kako.

Anyone have any insight on draftess that would fit that?

They played their GF last week.

Teams lose the following week when you beat Essendon ahah

Sure.

Ruck/forward who is a genuine aerial threat:

Elite rebounding defender is more difficult as they often tend to be midfielders or wingers at the junior level. There’s Tobie Travaglia:

For small forwards I’ve posted a ton of Kako and Berry video in this thread if you do a search.

Thank you. Are they thereabouts for our first pick?
As for small forward, yeh I’m assuming we just bank Kako with that one.

Hoping we actually take the two smalls Berry and Kako then try to re-enter in the second round and grab Jobe S Wishful thinking tho

Travaglia or Berry should land around our first pick. Gerreyn would be a reach as it stands but his form in the second half of the season has been as good as any kid in the country and he’s coming with a late rush.
