The 2024 Draft [no longer spec] Thread

Jobe also took the most contested marks in the under 18’s championship this year.

Its going to be between him and Armstrong for our first pick imo.

One for our SA man on the ground @Aceman who’s mate’s young lad Dyson Sharp had an excellent senior SANFL debut yesterday.

Hopefully the masses don’t turn on them when they take a year/2 like Cadman to develop

Mate we had at least one person turn on Jones based on his haircut

Would it be a waste of pick 10 ish to take Shannahan?
I have been very impressed by him in the vfl.

If Armstrong gets taken before our pick I think thats what we will do.

In an even draft i think its time we go for best fit over best available. So yes agree, take a key forward. (We know we have a small fwd coming after that)

scrappiest of scrappy games that

Was terrible to watch live. Conditions were absolutely crap and it just turned into a real grind

One of them would come in as coverage for Spud Frost.

I’d be stoked with a draft of:
Armstrong/Shannahan
Kako
Another running half back
Wing
Nguyen either late match or cat b

Do we really have enough exposed form to use pick 8 on Shanahan? Seems a bit risky. If we sort the Kako bid out and he’s still available in the 2nd round we could look to trade in an early 2nd for future 2nd + 4th (not sure that gets it done…?) to pick him up

Assume the HBF and winger are coming from picks we get from trading players out right? GCS have our 3rd rounder which is pick 46 and NM have our 4th which is pick 64

I don’t know to be honest but after he’s last three weeks that will definitely raise him up the board, other option if it was there would be to try and trade it back to two teen picks in the hope of getting two picks in before kako.
That would be fine to use one on Jobe one on a running half back

I think we might even need more later picks to be able to match the Kako bid lol…

We absolutely need him tho so I’d be a bit worried about ■■■■■■■ around trying to absolutely swindle the draft

The criticism of him is that he has a tendency to pick and choose when to be competitive, if it is true, then that’s enough to put a line through him imo

I think we will be fine there will be some trades of a few players going out

Watching some armstrong highlights not too sold on his contested work, he seems version 2 of harrison jones (ie ■■■■ contested but the upgrade is accurate at goal) but my god thats a cannon

If only we already had a lead up forward with poor contested work and a cannon of a boot on the list that we weren’t utilising currently …

In regards to our first pick, the two remaining things we would love to happen before draft night are:

Melbourne beat Collingwood this week
Josh Battle re-signs at St Kilda

Both unlikely i think.

If we can beat Brisbane they miss finals, surely that is worth something.
We probably need to win by 100+ and Freo to win by 100+ though.

yeh ok, your option is better.

Collingwood (given poor percentage) and Melbourne both can’t make finals, not sure either side wants to win that contest.
