For those better informed should we be concerned that the only player we are looking to trade in is this defender from Adelaide? Is the draft deep this year? What is the list strategy? (I can’t seem to find anything about this anywhere)
We tried going after a few others, they’ve picked other clubs (or stayed put).
We should get some (fingers crossed) handy to good players back from injury - Radford, Keaney, Gough - which will help. Walker at some point during the year, too. Need to keep Gay and VDH on the park. That should see us much better in 2026. Not premiership level, not top 4 level, but much better.
Those returning players for me won’t shift the needle all that much with the exception of VDH and Gay. Both will be very handy for sure but keeping them both on the park will be the challenge. Oh well…we’ll get a better gauge of things after the draft and once pre season starts.
Gough might shift the needle.
Assuming just the one trade, the question is what first round pick we may have left over to Hail Mary a generational mid.
Is/was Baker-West close with the club at all @theDJR? I’m sure I’ve seen her name in some AFLW or VFLW threads and looking at the draft profiles for this year she features very highly. Would she be someone of interest?
I may have mentioned her once or twice…
(once or twice dozen times)
She might slide a bit due to injury history?
Depends what pick(s) we’re trading with Adelaide, perhaps in our window.
Rookie Me have her at 10. They rate her highly.
September 2023:
Really surprised we haven’t targeted some more role players so far. Maybe as has been mentioned the hope is the injured/inactive players help with this but I would’ve thought it was very clear this year that our bottom 5 or so players each week are a fair way off the level.
Everything is building to a definitely not predetermined last-hour-streamed MEGA-TRADE.
A move for Prowse has also hit a snag, with Essendon rejecting Adelaide’s request for the No.6 pick to be involved in a deal for the young defender and instead only offering its No.13 selection heading into deadline day.
The Crows have shown a willingness to give something back to the Bombers, should they include the No.6 pick in negotiations, but that has so far appeared off-limits for officials at Tullamarine.
Tbf given what most players seem to get traded for in the AFLW I’d be inclined to agree that pick 6 is a big ask
MEGA TRADE is as close as 15 minutes away…
Dupuy cost a future third-rounder… similar what’s expected to be paid for LilyRoseWill to go to the Bears and probably not get a game.

A deal taking Zoe Prowse to Essendon has also been agreed. The Bombers will give Picks 13, 60 and F3 for Prowse, Pick 50 and F4.
Great business not having to give up pick 6
So no takers for Brown then? And we take pick 6, 49, 50 + fifth round to the draft
Time to ANNOUNCE further cuts.
28 from this year’s VFLW team (including elderly citizen and AFLW development coach Bernardi) plus MiaVanDyke and Sheridan.
Doesn’t include Gamble and others (?) yet to be cut; I assume they can still add themselves to this “full list”.
