Certainly better than sitting on the couch and doing a few runs around the Tan…

It’s indicative of a new mindset. Signs the Penny has dropped on ā€˜AFL lifestyle’. A group on an elite level training camp would likely elevate individual training output Vs doing it individually at home. Further, a chance for Clubs emerging and current leaders to drive higher standards as well as lots of opportunity to spend time together and have honest conversations. Taking ownership of the future, taking responsibility.

Whenever we look at what made teams successful, invariably there’s a moment or activity that in hindsight marks the beginning of a successful period. Given Scott has talked about AFL lifestyle as a symbol of the need for the club to improve culture via higher standards, to me this camp represents a potentially outstanding opportunity to create and embed tangible and intangible layers ahead of 2024.

Isn’t this what fans wanted. for the players to take initiative to improve their training standards on their own accord?

Yet fans are still complaing i dont get it

They could be running the wonderland loop in the Grampians on repeat, then the whole list could do it.

Waste of money.

The players dont seem to think its a waste of money if they are happy to pay from thier own pocket

Yeah, I was joking anyway. I’m with you on this.

But…

They could be doing The Bondi-Bronte coastal, maybe hit up a Snap fitness for some bi’s and tri’s inbetween running sessions.

Arizona would have nothing on that.

This is Blitz…where nothing is straightforward.

The band Weddings Parties Anything used to do a song called Four Corners Of The Earth, about a couple in a loveless relationship who spend their whole time travelling as a kind of relationship glue.

"To the four corners of the earth they took it,
To the far flung corners of the globe
And if they could have taken it to Mars,
They would have travelled anywhere that they could go.

They searched for romance on the high sea, Looked for romance in the air
Looked in the bars of New York,
But they couldn’t find it there.

From Paraguay to Portugal,
Toronto to Turin,
What did not work in Balmain
it would not work in Berlin".

My point being, if our players have poor training standards here, why are they going to be any better in Arizona?

They could do ground hog day and we would say the same thing

High-altitude training is the whole point of the Arizona thing. You can get to much higher altitude, and work out in much thinner air, over there than you can here. Very significant chunks of the place are higher than Kosciuszko.
