The concert and gig thread

Im a bit gutted, will be overseas when they tour next year. It will be a great show I reckon.

I have Spotify premium, it’s not perfect, and when the family members jump on, it overrides what you’re listening to. So some people have to be offline. There’s a bit of random albums and artists that are missing, but it’s got a lot.

The other thing I use a lot is the PBS Listener app. Just go back and listen or download shows you like. It’s free obviously, and more of a wider listening experience.

I use apple. I’m in their ecosystem and have a bundle deal for cloud, arcade etc.

Seems good enough to me. I only miss Spotify this time of year for the Unwrapped.

I don’t stream a lot, but Community Radio Plus is a good app for accessing independent radio across Aus. Prolly not exactly what you’re looking for, but worth a look if you’re willing to search for what you like.

I have Spotify, purchase albums on Bandcamp, and stream RRR, PBS and KEXP (Seattle) community radio from the apps

Saw Air at the music bowl last night. Great night for it, and a good show.

If it’s purely for music I use tidal for the high quality. Amazon and Apple Music also higher quality than Spotify.

Is the catalog of songs seemingly just as broad across all three?

And probably a dumb question do any permit downloading to mp3?

I have some mp3 player headphones i use for exercise. So would be good if that was possible.

No idea about Apple or Tidal, but Amazon doesn’t have the (local) catalogue of Spotify

Catalog very similar. There’s only one song from my Spotify playlist I can’t find and it’s a specific remastered remix.
You can download songs to listen to offline but you can’t obtain the actual song via a mp3 or file.
If you like podcasts Tidal is not great for that like spotify is.
You can always do a free trial as you may not notice the quality.

Edit: I find bass to be heavy on Spotify, but to listen properly on tidal you need to wire in headphones. Bluetooth will diminish quality. And then I use a WiiM to convert tidal to stereo to not lose quality.

Thanks for the info! They all seem fairly similar if you know what your looking for.

Id imagine mp3 download is difficult. I might need to find a different way to get those.

Most of my listening isnt hi def. Just through a sonos setup. I probably wouldn’t notice the difference

Local catalog super important. I like to find local bands online that might be gigging.

I use Youtube music. It comes with Youtube premium as a bonus too, which is pretty much the reason I have it.

Plus the YT music app also pulls in user-uploaded music from the normal YT, so you can get a bunch of live / rare stuff that you can’t get on Spotify.

Yep, same here. I use it mostly to access the rarer stuff users have uploaded.

Also find the audio quality on YT seems to be pretty solid. Spotify ain’t audiophile, that’s for sure.

I checked out YT its a bit exxy.

Do you know if they offer a music only sub?

I thought is was the same price as Spotify?

I googled yt premium 16.99? Seems high

Just checked spotify 13.99. Not a lot more i guess

Oh geez, I think that’s gone up, quite a bit. I’ve got a locked-in legacy price from the old Google music days, so I’m only $8.99 a month.

$16.99 is getting a bit steep
