On a personal note, I’m getting pumped. Fly up to Brisbane tomorrow for days 2 and 3. It will be my first visit to the Gabba.

Head is opening. Cummins was thinking about playing, but probably won’t; neither will Lyon - both have been walking around the ground in their runners. Neser is playing - he’s been seen out there in spikes.

Who’s coffee did Webster crap in?

Neser is a good quick and something a little different to the other bowlers we have. Slug probably a bit stiff, but Neser hasn’t put a foot wrong at Test level.

He has 5 FC centuries too, so no mug with the bat either.

I don’t like it. Do we need 5 seamers?

Having said that, I am happy for Neser.

Lucky you! Have fun, mate.

Also playing on his home deck.

Dunno whether that means a lot, but he’s played a lot of cricket at the Gabba.

Poms batting

I think it should count for something.

Same reason I thought Renshaw should get a look-in. Has scored a lot of runs on this deck so far this year.

Nesser in for Lyon. I’m not a fan of this decision.

I’m not a fan of it without Webster.

hmmmm are we getting too clever? they say Inglis is in to attack in the lower order, but what if the top order ■■■■■ the bed who is anchoring the innings? it’s too all out attack for me.

Inglis is in simply because he’s the next best specialist batsmen in the squad. It’s not a complicated decision.

going with the extra seamer instead of Lyon is interesting. And it’s starting to paint pictures of where Lyon is at…

Last England test win at Brisbane was 1986.

So they’re due.

For another spanking.

Assuming he’s not injured, I fear we might be over overthinking things re Lyon. A balanced Test attack, this is not. And with all due respect to the four quicks ( and Green on top of that ) , this is not exactly a 1980’s West Indian pace attack.
