I’d have fired him for being a ■■■■ cricket journalist, but anyway, good decision Hutchy, I wonder if 7 will follow suit…

Good decision to censor journalism? hmm, seems like a slippery slope.

Objectively he’s an excellent cricket journo. You may not like his prose, and that’s completely fine, but he’s clearly very good at getting a story, has excellent contacts around the national set up, and has a grasp of the game to provide colour and insight into match day events.

Bottom line here, Fat Hutchy has some rich jewish mates who probably tip money into his business interests, and they’ve pulled rank.

It’s actually pretty ■■■■■■ really, regardless of whether you like his writing or not…

Jay Shah (BCCI ICC Chair) and Richard Thompson (ECB Chair) have tasked themselves with re-jigging the WTC structure ahead of the new cycle (which conveniently starts with their 5 test series) to ensure that one of or both make the final every cycle…

Priority #1 for Thompson, get rid of over rate penalties…

Personally I think he’s a crap journalist, so one less medium I have to list to or read his articles on is fine by me. However regarding his social media activity, I think everyone these days has a social media policy written into their employment contracts. Anything you do online that may negatively impact the organisation you work for will have ramifications, be it disciplinary action like a warning, or in some cases termination of employment. It’s obviously arbitrary as to whether what he’s done warrants no longer being on SEN, but if it’s impacting negatively on SEN then he has to wear that.

I actually didn’t mind PL. More Harsha now please.

Surely it would be better for both countries if this series wasn’t included?
I can’t see either team sweeping it.

Edit: and their sooking about over rates when they simply lost way too many Tests is very silly.

But is it negatively affecting SEN due to a concerted campaign against this journo?
From my (very) limited exposure on X, there appears to be a targeted action against him.

I don’t overly like him and find his commentary poor at times. However, that said, he is a decent journalist in uncovering stories and following up leads.

If he was attacking Jews and being abusive etc, then I would have no issue with him being sacked. But posting some news articles from generally reputable news organisations seems like a little bit of overkill, even if you don’t agree with everything the stories say.

The early speculation is that these 5 test series between Aus/England/India may only have tests 1-3 counted for WTC points.

Well I can see why that’s very attractive to England…

Fun little google. It’s fourteen years since England won a Test in Australia.

Yeah 2010 series. For all the talk of our struggles to win the Ashes in England, they have been far far worse out here.

Credit where due, though. They won that series 3–1, and each three of those wins was by an innings plus.

But yeah, ‘you only drew the series’ is weak sauce when their recent record here is 0-13-2.

Yeah they were at their peak and hitting us at our lowest ebb.

Since then there have been 35 Ashes test matches and England have only won 10, all at home. Aus have won 19 in the same time.

Cool, let me know when you win a series in England

Don’t need to win them. I’m happy to take drawn series over there and whitewash you here. That will keep us holding the Ashes indefinitely
