The Cricket Thread (part 11) - from The Champing

There is something to what you say, but it doesn’t completely stand up.
He easily has the best average of the big four against South Africa.
But against Australia and India he’s the worst of the four, again…pretty considerably.

Former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson retires from international cricket - BBC Sport

66 average at home with a low 40’s average away.

37 average against Straya.

38 against India.

40 against the poms.

Don’t get me wrong, minnow bashing is still an artform and I actually appreciate it a little more now that we have nobody in the team who reliably can do it, but it absolutely puts you down a peg from the greats.

Wonder if the ECB slipped the “you must immediately “ Letter under the wrong captains door

That article says he would have scored much more if given the opportunities to play as many test matches as the other 3. Root has played 54 more, but Kohli and Smith only 13 more. So a bit of mayo on that article.

He did say minnows

Renshaw our best bowler this series

This is about the least profile Aussie tour you’ll ever see, which is reflected in the lack of comments on here but good to see Copper Connolly going well in this game.

the overseas episodes of “adam zampa gets shitcarted everywhere” don’t really have the same exotic appeal as overseas episodes of, say, “the brady bunch”, discounting how formulaic and repetitive both shows are

That’s a significant moment for Connolly.

He’s definitely got something about him and this will help build his self belief now as an international player.

Well done young man.

Playing very well but collapsed with exhaustion after running a 2. Very stylish batsmen

Just realised he’s not bowling at the moment due to a back injury. I clearly don’t follow the IPL where it seems he had some decent scores.

Expecting a little uptick in form from Green now Cooper has announced himself as a genuine player. The mantle of carrying your nation’s sporting hopes on your shoulders I reckon has been a heavy burden to carry for Cam Green. Hopefully Connolly can score consistently which will spur Green on and back into regularly good performances as well here on end . :crossed_fingers:

On a tour of Bangladesh, I don’t reckon there would be a hell of a lot of interest for an Australian touring squad outside of game day lol

Can’t imagine the WAGS would be rushing over either

Bangladesh isn’t the worst place to visit but it’s up there
Don’t think there would be too many places as bad as Dhaka

Peake with 21 off 25 so far with a lovely 6. He looks like a future gun.
