The Cricket Thread (part 7) - The Mitch Marsh Test Renaissance period

If and when Cummins gives up the captaincy it will either be Head (if he gives it up soonish, which I doubt) or some young guy who comes in like a McSweeney type.

Great to see a Kevin playing top line sport in 2024

Yep Head is captain elect

Can Sinclair actually see through that visor!? The top bar looks about level with his eyes

Rehan Ahmed yet to get a trundle. Interesting. If the visa issues hasn’t have occurred, would Bashir have got a game instead? Can’t believe he’s not been given a go, especially when Hartley has been going at 7 an over.

He doesn’t believe he will be

Very optimistic appeal from Starc. Missing a third leg stump that one.

Poms have already said he wasn’t going to play the 1st test.

Yep it’s seems ridiculous that Hartley has bowled unchanged. root surely worth a trundle as well.

Interesting given he’s the current VC and no one else other than Mitch Marsh in the team has leadership credentials.

Huge

Hartley 0/63 after 9

Jaiswal 60 (54)

He is less than a year younger than Pat and with the way Pat looks after himself there is no reason why he can’t play for many years yet and the last thing they will do when Pat retires is put Trav in for a year or two before he also retires. The only way Trav is skipper permanently will be if Pat gets injured or retires early. Over the coming year or so we will start to see some new blood come in and one or more of them will probably end up with the job

Good call by Carey, that was going down leg.

I have heard Cummins wants to hand over the captaincy before he finishes up and just be a player. If that happens Trav has to be the man.

I think the windies are doing well because pat cummins is woke.

Sinclair averages 32 with the bat in first class cricket. That’s a decent record.
