He’s going to be playing a fair bit of T20 now domestically to cash in while he can. The IPL which goes for ≈2 months, probably some of those new American leagues, Big Bash etc. So chances are if he’s playing those then he’ll continue to be part of our international T20 setup.
But anyway, whatever will be will be. Ideally we have some fast bowlers who get their opportunity in ODI’s and perform so well that we have a good problem on our hands.
For me, his peak certainly in ODI Cricket was that World Cup on home soil in 2016. He was devastating. I’ll never forget that group stage match against New Zealand (over there) where they only needed like 10 to win with 4 or 5 wickets in hand hand he proceeded to make a mess of the stumps over and over again and very nearly got us home. I don’t think he’s quite at that level still but he’s still more than decent. In test cricket he seems to have added a little bit of something something to his repertoire with that 3/4 seam ball that he delivers. I still want him in my test team for sure.
Can be feast or famine with Starc, always has been, such is the way he bowls with the white ball.
If you’d have watched the game, you’d have seen him beat Salt at least 4 times in his first two overs and have him edge one through 3rd slip for 4. He could’ve easily had 2fa in a game when the quicks largely went around the park.
Bangas doing their best to give India a sniff here. Shanto bowled leg stump trying to play a reverse sweep of Jadeja. Horrific decision making and shot execution. Bangladesh 4/91, a lead of 39.
Come on Bangladesh. Make a game of it. Absolute disaster of a session so far!
I really, really, really hope we smash India here this summer. I think it will be close but no cricketing nation and the keyboard warrior toxicity many of their fans produce deserve to be belted more.
And when confronted with that fact, they tend to revert the conversation back to the Border Gavaskar Trophy wins (or losses depending who you support) in recent years.
