The Cricket Thread (part 9) - from Dec 2024

Seems like there is some leaking from inside the rooms. Guess that happens when a team starts losing but the leaks indicate that the coach a number of players are not getting along. One of the other leaks was that a high profile (not named) BCCI official asked Gambhir to play Sharma for this test but he refused (which is fair as his game is bad).

Leading cricket journalist Peter Lalor from The Australian says the leak against Gambhir appears to have been “strategic”.

“Where there’s smoke there’s fire,” Lalor said on Channel 7.

“Those stories don’t come out of nothing. The fact they’re coming out of the dressing room is a really bad sign. You can contain divisions and sort of conflict within a dressing room only for so long. It seemed like a strategic leak to me. And it’s playing out before our eyes right now.”

@saladin Jaiswal back to just missing the outside edge, already done it a number of times so far.

It’s his favourite shot.

Pat bowling well …
Not a great help this wicket though.
Suppose they’ll have to mix it up at some point …

Slow pitch = take the pace off, bring in short midwicket and short cover, bowl a yard fuller (and a yard slower).

Marnus’s favourite is playing outside the line and getting hit in his jatz crackers.

Love a half volley on leg stump wicket!

Very soft dismissal. That’s a ball that should be worked away for runs. Nice bonus!

Starc gets Rahual, gawn for 4, a simple flick straight to Konstas in close at short square leg. That was made to look very easy. India 1/11.

Konstas the first session of a test star

Yeah not the best way to get out, very lazy shot work.

The point of replacing Sharma as an opener wasn’t to replicate his soft dismissals.
