The Cricket Thread (part 9) - from Dec 2024

My Indian boss at work HATES KL Rahul. Cannot stand him. He always goes on about it. He reckons he’s been a fraud for years. Says that he will make a score early on in a series in the first or second test then contribute nothing.

Sunni might be a twit but he was bang on - as soft a dismissal as you’ll see

Gill’s record of only 12 scores above 50 in 31 tests is really surprising. He looks to be such a talented player. Fingers crossed he doesn’t add to that number this test

Can only think this wicket held that ball up a bit.
Anyway …

Glad that Pat heeded my advice and got the bat pad in

Yup. Won’t be the last bloke out caught in front of the wicket today.

KL Rahul has opted to rest in the changerooms today.

These two.
Probably the best technical batsmen wise for India.

Your boss is wrong.

He has all the talent in the world but hasn’t been focused on developing his game. He should be India’s best bat for the next decade.

Wouldn’t surprise me. When he decides he doesn’t like someone he doesn’t change his mind lol.

To be fair though. One thing is true and that is that for a player of KL Rahul’s ability to be averaging only 34 after nearly 60 tests, he has definitely underachieved. Even allowing for the shuffling up and down the order.

Boland replaces Cummins.

Yep, averaging low 30’s is pretty poor for a bloke of his age

Rahul’s average doesn’t reflect his ability. He’s techically and can play an attacking or defensive innings. He’s scored some important 100s but too often he’s been shuffled around the order. I hope he can cement his opening spot.

Jaiswal doesn’t miss the edge this time
