Game on a knifes edge.
That Jadeja wicket really would have swung it out way.
Going to be a pretty crazy day tomorrow. Here’s hoping a few can pull their finger out

If Australia wanted to doctor a wicket, they’d have rolled out a flat one given all we need is a draw to win the series.
Thank God. Pant would be 347* (128) right now.
It’s a really poor wicket. Only a first game player and a basher like Pant have shown anything. World class batsman have struggled. Great bowlers like Lyon and Jadeja have been irrelevant. I’m not quite sure this is what we want on a consistent basis despite the game being on a knife’s edge. The MCG wicket was much better.
Australia were 100 runs short in their innings. The dropped catches hadn’t helped.
India will likely set us 200 plus.
We need Smith to make up for his 3 dropped catches. Prey very good Trav (not rubbish Trav) turns up tomorrow bc we cannot rely on Uzi, Marnus making any runs. Webster can dig in and Carey will look good then get out for 18. It’s all down to Smith and Trav for me
How many wickets have been due to the pitch, and how many just due to poor shot selection or poorly played shots?
It’s not a great pitch by any stretch, but I still think alot of this is on the batsmen.
So, if Im right here, Websters debut match so far is better than Konsta. 3 less runs, 1 more wicket, at least 50% less bullshit.
It’s a tad too bowler friendly for my liking, but I’ll take this over a road any day of the week.
Have to skittle the last 4 Indian wickets quickly, any partnerships of substance will push it beyond our crab batsmen.
Also, well done Webster.
Why compare them? Can’t you just enjoy both?
There’s also the slight age difference.
That said I think you were definitely underselling it with the “50% less bullshit” call
It’s says more about batsmen not being able to handle wickets that have a bit in them rather than it being a bad wicket. Crap players will have a moan about the deck. Honestly they simply do not have the techniques nor the temperament to make runs. Anyone else find it interesting that Webster makes 50, and he bats on Bellerive every 2nd game, which is very bowler friendly? He looked superb, whilst Marnus and Khawaja continue to play from the crease, don’t move their feet and play outside their body.
Stow not in for the Gades tonight. Read the message wrong saying he might get picked, not that he was confirmed. He’d be close though…
Oh goodie… Stars vs Renegades. This should be comedy gold…
I think they play so much cricket now on roads, especially big bash etc., that wickets with a bit in them become a challenge. That said, this game has many world class, proven great batsman who have struggled. They’ve struggled because of the enormous movement and inconsistent bounce that has continued throughout the game. It’s a bit disconcerting for a batsman if you can’t rely on certain things happening when bowlers are bowling at 140 mph.
I think you can still have great games of cricket on wickets better than this.
Australian pitches in general have been for a while now, not just tests look at the shield results. And it’s not just that, the kookaburra ball has changed has a more pronounced seam now
It’s not been a good wicket from a batting perspective, but I’ve actually enjoyed seeing the batters having a really torrid time. I’d like to see more of it, to be honest. Nothing worse than seeing a team bat for five sessions and make 600, in my opinion.
I reckon India need at least another 40 runs, which is probably a big ask given the pitch and the fact they’ve got three number 11s to come. Jadeja is fighting really hard, but is struggling; I reckon Sundar is the key man for India now.
And an excellent debut by Webster. Batted well, bowled well, caught well. Amazing what happens when you pick guys with good red ball form to play red ball cricket.
Absolutely, it reminds of that Gabba pitch against South Africa couple years ago when the only way to get a score is by bashing, like Head did that test. I think the way the Australian pitches have changed way to much to the favour of the bowlers - think about Adelaide, used to be a batters paradise, but now with the day night it’s just a different game now
As it was explained, he has to spend the same amount of time he missed, not bowling. So if he missed 2 hours play, he can’t bowl for 2 hours in our next innings.
In the meantime Great Scott has taken over the mantle of our # 1 strike bowler this series.
Does their batting innings constitute time “not bowling” in the game?
A lot of it weather related this year. It hasn’t been a deliberate ploy
Yes.
