The Cricket Thread (part 9) - from Dec 2024

Not sure what the point of all that was? Who cares how many spent what time watching. 49k turned up through the gates.

Spot on I looked at tickets and it was saying most of the seats were sold

McSweeney plays the pull extremely well

McSweeney said his favourite player was Ponting. Watching him pull and hook tells you that too.

Test cricket so the crowd moves around a bit, particularly at Adelaide.

They don’t just stay in their seats all day.

And from the look of it there were thousands out the back on the lawn having a feed and tipple post work. Why not on a Friday in warm weather before watching some live cricket under lights.

Sounds pretty sweet.

Hearing them rave on and on about it all night and it’s been half empty the whole time and 1/3 full all evening when they keep crapping on about it.

Last over of the day
Ashwin bowling it

Who cares? Big crowd turned up.

Did you watch the cricket? Did you enjoy watching it? That’s all that matters, not how many stayed and watched the whole thing from first bounce to last.

How bad does their over rate have to be before they’re docked points?

First two days almost sold out and SACA had budgeted for a crowd in the 50k region.
There was 37k through the gates by halfway through the first session and just on 47k at the last break.
Out the back holds 15-20k in the marquees and they are pretty much full all day. The manager of our corporate faculty said that corporate facilities were at capacity too whilst from staff I spoke to today they all said they have done record numbers across all their bars, canteens etc

If you can keep them out there after 10pm then make them play until midnight to bowl all of the overs.

Bumrah with a very obvious slower ball, at least 20km slower than usual.

Well we will just take the moral victory

Great day by Australia.
Make no mistake that was quite possibly the most difficult session of play I’ve seen at Adelaide and to only lose one wicket is simply superb.
Job not done yet though as there is usually a bit of life in the first hour or so each day but we have set ourselves up nicely
Well done to both Lab and McSweeney, won’t get much harder than this

Well done McSweeney and Labuschagne!
Really tough conditions against the best bowler in the world.

Huge session for Straya with the bat for once. Horrible conditions for batting, and even though Sweeney Todd got lucky with Trouser jumping in front of Shawarma to drop him, he struggled through admirably. Only 1 down is excellent.

Now to start again tomorrow.

Also fck off ump allowing that last over.
