"Rested" from the BBL tonight. Is this the end for Mr. P. Hughes?
Word is he has taken his non selection for South Africa quite hard and is not in a fit mental state to play tonight

Word from where?
Just some whispers ive heard from people involved at SACA. After going back to the shield and peeling off 3 tons, including a double century in his first 4 games this year he has every right to feel disillusioned and then for Inverarity to say he wasnt selected because he is considered a top order batter only to bring in Marsh and Doolan is pretty poor IMO.Word from where?
Or he could play like Bailey, Maxwell, Quiney etc and make us all look like genuises lol.Hopefully Shaun Marsh looks you all look like a bunch of nuffies in the same way Mitch Johnson did.
Didnt he average 3.4 against the Saffers last series?
My main concern is he makes runs in the shorter form due to there usually only being 1 slip in and he just nudges runs around the field until he gets settled. The Saffers wont give him that luxury and I fear he will keep nicking them to slip. Hope im wrong and he proves us to all be fools but judging by his ordinary shield form im not filled with any confidence
I think the SA bowling attack would currently be too much for most of the worlds top order, so its just about the best place to see if Marsh has got the goods or not.
Inverarity is a ■■■■
He managed to pick a team that shattered the English 5-nil.
doesn't mean he cant be a ■■■■
David warner is a very good batsman.

Fixed
He managed to pick a team that shattered the English 5-nil.
I think the St Patricks under 13 B side could have shattered that mob. They were a basket case from half way through the Gabba test right til the end. Not sure Inverarity had much to do with their implosion.
Hughes will get his chance when an opening spot becomes available. Probably when Rogers retires or loses form. They rightfully picked two bats to compete for the number 3 or 6 spot - depending on where Watson bats.

So Hughes is pencilled in as an opener only forever?Hughes will get his chance when an opening spot becomes available. Probably when Rogers retires or loses form. They rightfully picked two bats to compete for the number 3 or 6 spot - depending on where Watson bats.
This squad is not bad but most of them pick themselves, Inverarity is a ■■■■ IMO.Let's hear your squad for RSA.Inverarity is a ■■■■

Some of his decisions in the last 2 years have been embarassing, I get the feeling Boof has demanded more of a say in selection than what Arthur got
Im leaving Watto at 3 and Hughes at 6.So you would have picked Hughes for three and who else? This squad is not bad but most of them pick themselves, Inverarity is a ■■■■ IMO.Let's hear your squad for RSA.Inverarity is a ■■■■

Who the hell is Alex Doolan?
Our next great number 3
Yep, to follow in the footsteps of the other great one, Ed Cowan.

Remainder as is.
Hughes has some deficiencies but he is twice the player Marsh is. I dont have Hughes pigeon holed as an opener only
We saw in England what happens when you pick openers in the middle order. Cowan and Hughes were like fish out of water.
Hughes may struggle against the short ball and swing bowling, but that ain't nothing on his struggles against spin. Against Swann he had no idea, and on the tour of India it was embarrassing. Over a few Test he faced 100 consecutive balls without scoring against spin. He just had no way of getting off strike, and it was awful to watch. At least as opener he facing the quicks and can get some rhythm before the tweakers come on. It probably wouldn't matter as much against RSA, but the selectors need to think more than three Tests ahead - India are coming here next summer. Hughes is not a viable option for 6 in my opinion.
Who is your reserve bat for RSA?
Who the hell is Alex Doolan?

WOB is giving nickyd a run for his money with his State biased commentary on Shaun Marsh.
