@Tezzalenco How is Rocky after his palate surgery a few months ago? Hope he has fully recovered - he certainly looks great.
He should be very happy with his favourite player at the moment. :+1:

Thanks @loyalandproud . It has been a month or so now since the surgery. First 2 weeks no coughing or hacking which was great and he was eating alot of soft foods. 3rd week he seemed to cough/clear his throat a few times but not like before. I was a bit concerned that week and thought it is coming back but seems to have settled pretty well and only does it every now and then. He was doing it all the time when drinking water before surgery but has not done it once since. The vet told us that he thought that the long soft palate surgery might not cure him 100%. He did say the clearing of the throat and coughing might also be due to a weak/collapsed trachea or acid reflux. He definitely needed the surgery for the soft palate as it would have got worse as he got older and would have shortened his life expectancy. We took him back to the vet last Friday and gave him a run around the carpark and the vet was happy with his breathing so at this stage they are happy with his recovery. We are allowed to take him for walks again and the big test will be at the off leash dog park. Before surgery when running off leash Rocky’s breathing started to resemble a pig snorting so think the soft palate surgery will definitely fix this up for him. I just got a big box of treats delivered yesterday for Rocky with a whole lot of different natural treats for him. I also tend to always give him a bit of my food to him after I eat so I will try to stop doing that and just keep him on his own food ( this will be hard to do as he follows me everywhere and gives me those puppy dog eyes). Thanks for checking up on Rocky. He has had a really bad 12 months or so but hopefully he is over all of it and can get back to being a normal puppy again. Also sorry for the very long response😆

Thanks for your detailed and heart felt account of Rocky’s journey. I love your photos and that he is such an important part of your family. It’s great to know that he has improved and that what he has been through is paying dividends now & in the future. He reminds me so very much of a close friend’s staffy who stayed with us a number of times…. he slept at night snuggled under the doona
Hope your off lead playtime goes really well… and yes, it is almost impossible to resist those very endearing eyes at meal times!

Yeah he is pretty special. We have had a few staffys over the years but Rocky has really made an impact on the family. My mum has never really been a dog person and over the years we have taken our other pups over to the parents and she never let them inside. I took Rocky over to her house and he was running around inside with her and then she shared some of her breakfast with him at the kitchen table😀. Sent a pic to the rest of the family and they were stunned. Rocky loves when she comes over. He sits on the couch next to her while she watches a movie while my mum is giving him a neck massage.
