I’m going to stand up for the second half of the decade, I loved so much of the music of that period. My age probably perfectly correlated with the decade, first half was early 20’s so the loud fun gigs, festival and rave days where served well by the electronic and rock coming out then(for me it was more the electronic).
By the second half of the decade I was mellowing, in my late twenties and searching for more mature and laid back stuff which this time period delivered. Sufjan, Fleet foxes, Bon Ivor, Arcade Fire, The National, Grizzley Bear, Iron and wine meant Americana indie and Nu Folk was supreme. From raver to lumberjack hipster. Heaps of high quality music, it just wasn’t Rock.
