The Great Blitz Album Survey…Favourite Albums Across The Years…The 2000s

If there is one thing that Blitz never has enough of, it’s music threads…so here’s another one.

Over the coming weeks I am looking to develop a comprehensive list of Blitzer’s favourite albums for each year from 1960 through to 2024.

I’ll break it down into threads by decades so you don’t have to spend ages on putting your favourites together.

This fourth thread is for the 2000s.

I’m asking that you name your top three albums for each year…in order as your top album will get three votes, 2nd favourite will get 2 votes and 3rd favourite will get one.

Eg

3 - Fave Album (3 votes)
2 - 2nd fave (2 votes)
3 - 3rd fave 1 (1 vote)

Extra Info: Live albums and Soundtracks are ok but Greatest Hits/Compilations are not

I’ll keep a tally and present the details later.

I’m aiming to keep voting open for a week so get into it and have your say.

Format is simple:

Copy and paste the following data into your post…and then add the details

I’ve had a look and I think I’m struggling to rate three albums in the decade, let alone per year, so sadly I’m out.

Jez is fuming.

Why is Jez fuming?

Didn’t he have a rivalry/hatred of them. Shenanigans about women on tour or some such thing. Only vague recollection so I could be mistaken.

No hatred for the band at all from memory, I believe he said they were great guys.

But It was on that tour when a certain bassist got himself a bit of a stalker, though.

No, I was saying Pennywise were overrated crap. Bit of fun, they’re ok. I like Millencolin though.

I like how nobody at all mentioned Pennywise, but Jez still had to take a swing

Just correcting what he might’ve been thinking of :joy:

Was disappointed to see you leave it out of the votes.

It was strongly considered, but I don’t feel the need to put it on so much these days. Same with Jimmy Eat World and Klaxons, two I thought would definitely reach the podium.

The mid 2000’s saw me lose interest in much of the new music available, and also become bored with “classic rock”repeats. Hence after a few trips to the US came my descent (ascent?) into Yee Haw music, clearly visible in my choices here.

It opened up a whole new world of artists and songs that I was surprised to find that I enjoyed immensely. It also marked a move away from listening to albums but rather cherry picking songs that I enjoyed by a wider range of artists.

TL;DR - You might not have heard of some of these.
