The Great Blitz Album Survey…Favourite Albums Across The Years…The 80s

I own more 80s stuff than I thought.

I still think its a dogshit decade. But I love the passion it brews and also how its fans and devotees openly recognise The Cheese and regard this as a total strength.

Sorry…I ran this through the register of good (or better) albums…and it failed to register.

Rumour has it that it was just a money grabber filled with stale, mouldy leftovers from much better albums.

Well, where do I start.

It was 40+ degrees outside, and Mrs. K. was at work. So I thought I’d broaden my horizons.

It was a complete and utter waste of time. I’ll just stay in my lane from now on.

1981 sucked and Rick James album is amazing… no one picked it?
1980 and 83 were good years.

Do you mean Speaking In Tongues?

I haven’t seen this in anyone’s list…

Yes Swoods, it will appear in mine when I get my lazy ar*e into gear.

After reading this (and never having listened to it) I just listened to the album. After track 1, I was thinking…this is pretty good…might be a candidate for the playlist…but alas, the rest of the album didn’t hold up…so it’s not going onto the playlist and I can understand why others haven’t picked.

As for 1981 “sucking” I reckon I could have easily picked another 25-30 albums that I really love.

But that’s just my perspective for what it’s worth.

Chemistry is decent from ‘81.

Song 1 Give it to me baby is definitely the hit but 2nd song ghetto life is my fav. Then you have super freak later on and then maybe the most wildly hilarious song fire and desire. The vocals are incredible/bizarre.

As for all these decade lists I’ve just been selecting eye openers and usually the first album I heard of the artist. Usually something that opened up to similar artists/sounds. Alas I’ve forgotton so many obscure albums since my albums/ hard drives are all in boxes. Spotify/tidal doesn’t really give me the album year details search.

I’ve got a spreadsheet with all the albums that I’ve listened to over the years. (there might be a few missing but it’s pretty comprehensive)

Currently the total is sitting at 3190 albums listed by artist (list 1) and year of release (list 2).

And then there’s the list of albums I want to listen to…

…and now the list of albums from these threads so that I can go though and find more to listen to.

I do love a good list.
