Pretty sure I have three soundtracks in my nineties list…
Have you finished your 90s list yet Sal?
Anyone use any specific websites to help them compile their lists? Or did you just go through your collections?
I have an extensive list of (almost) every album I’ve ever listened to.
I found this site a while back that has a lot of info:
https://www.albumoftheyear.org/
Just click on the “Best Albums” tab and it will give you albums by year.
Googling “albums from ____” gives you notable albums from the year, not necessarily critically acclaimed, but big artists and big sellers too. It will leave out a lot of solid Aussie releases though.
Back in the day I liked doing an album or 2 a drive to and from uni and work. At the time Rolling Stones 500, https://www.metacritic.com/music and https://www.besteveralbums.com
Wikipedia has a page for every year titled: “19xx in music.” Which includes a list of albums released.
Eg, go here, and there’s a link to the other years of 80s up top:
Not yet. I’ll see if I can knock it out today / tonight.
1990.
3 - Facelift - AIC
2- Blue Sky Mining- Oils

2- Ten - Pearl Jam
1 - Use Your Illusion II - GnR
De La Soul is dead was so close for 1 vote.

3 - Dirt - Alice In Chains
2- The Southern Harmony and… - The Black Crowes

Rock, Grunge, Grunge, Rock …The Corrs unplugged
Everyone’s lists have something similar, and I love it!
Soundtracks qualify…so Singles gets the 3, Dirt gets 2 and The Southern Harmony gets 1?
My interpretation was Dirt retained the 3 votes?
Dirt stays at the top. Southern Harmony moves to 1. Wish drops off. ( sorry Robert. But don’t worry. You’re already penned in for the 80’s when I get to them) .
Yeah, the Little Wing version in that gig is probably my favourite cover of anything, by anyone.
Cheers.
Also nice work with The Tea Party albums…although you missed Splendor Solis (which with The Interzone Mantras) is one of the top two albums (imo).
I have it, of course. But for most years there are plenty that miss out on top 3.
The interesting thing about the 90’s list for me is that it’s mostly contemporary to the time, with a couple of retrospective inclusions from now. It - and the early 2000’s - is also the decade I began to lose Grandparents , was young angry , frustrated, sad, excited, obsessed, lusting , riding motorcycles, on the ■■■■ all the time, blah blah , the usual. I was all over the place and took music from any genre that took my fancy. And I was a Dad by the end of 2000. That decade was crazy.
When I do the eighties, that ratio will likely be much more even - I was very early teens- and when I get to the 70’s it will at best be formed by listening patterns generally no closer than 10 years, I suspect. But a warning, it’ll take some time to get them out. Back at work now and flat out again.
Ok. It took me a bit to make a start on this and much more to get through it. I went with what are my personal favs rather than what I think are the best albums. I’d happily concede there are better albums in some of these years but they do not get the repeat plays that these get from me.

I never had the album, but had a 3 track EP with Bound For The Floor and Fritz’s Corner on it, and both those songs are absolute bangers. To add an Essendon flavour, the singer’s name is Scott Lucas.
