Scallop is a slang term for testicle.
Cake isn’t.
Just sayin.

I thought it was good back in the day.
Where I come from, scallops are shellfish.
I dont go to joints that do frozen brought in potato cakes.
Taste like powdered crap and thick and gluggy. Easy to tell as they are all the same size.
Kids wont even eat them. We went to a joint opposite Fountain Gate. Meant to be the best in Narre Warren on Uber Eats.
Arguably the worst fish and chips I have ever had.
They use to be. Now you can get them everywhere and they arent worth the money.
Easy to make, hard to truly master
No me neither. I’ve got a place. It’s not my direct local.
Best proper in house fresh slices of potato deep fried. Come out a bit darker in colour and are so good
Agree the other ones can be a bit rubbish.
The frozen ones can be ok.
The bakery at Flinders St used to sell them a dollar a pop, so after 20 beers in the city on a weekend, $3 was enough to sober me up to get home safely. They weren’t that bad (well, I don’t think they were).
Gotta have my potato cakes(this is a footy forum for a club in the northern suburbs of Melbourne)
Gotta have my calamari rings
And if they have it fresh gotta have my fillet of flathead
With maybe a bit of Greek salad and a can of coke
Yep. Step 1, dont by the heart-shaped ■■■■ that you see in the deli section of Woolies or Coles.
Yes I have seen some pubs use these and it’s a disgrace.
You almost need to drown them in tomato sauce or vinegar
Good greek joints use fresh Calamari strips with salt and pepper.
They did have a chicken salt shaker on the counter and it was applied liberally.
Crumbed lamb cutlets is the best Australian crumbed dish.
Fancy. Costs ann arm and a leg to have a proper feed of them tho.
But when you’re living large you have crumbed lamb cutlets. Not a Parma.
Just what I reckon
If it’s not the potato cake - you can definitely judge a joint by its calamari.
Wish they crumbed the hotdogs or snags at the F&C.
Agree on the lamb cutlets situation. A pack of 9 or 10 use to feed the family. Now the oldest eats like 5 himself as they are tiny.
They are ridiculously expensive but ridiculously good.
Reckon there more of a splurge than prawns these days.
I do wanna grab some from the butcher but ouch.
I usually have to downgrade to loin chops. The Toyota Camry of the lamb chop world.
Been meaning to slow cook lamb ribs one day. Think they could be good
Yeah that joint in San Remo has pretty much ruined F&C’s for us nothing comes close.
Are saveloys still a thing
I only see them at the local footy.
