The thread that brings out the best in Blitz. Outstanding @hambo
Hambo is a great bloke.
Great stuff Hambo. Was gonna tag you if you hadnt responded in a few days.
I’d give you one Hell of a reference.
e-boards are great fun. Yes you can seriously hurt yourself and yes, they’re expensive but it’s ace fun. If you can still balance you can ride.
eboards should be banned. The amount of near accidents i have had with them on the road
I can stay unemployed on my on tyvm
Some riders can be a bit of a menace.
Just an update:
@hambo has kindly offered a board, wheels and trucks set. Just organising how and when we can meet.
All I need to do is get pads and a helmet so I don’t crack my head open. That would set me back $220
Looked at Big W for Helmets and I think they are all kid sizes.
I’m sure you could find a good and cheap helmet in an op shop, but to be honest I wouldn’t worry about helmet or pads if you’re just looking to cruise unless you’re planning to do tricks in a skate park, course, as I assume you used to skate in your younger days.
lot of bike shops have helmets 50% off at the moment.
I could live without everything except wrist guards (when I last skated 5 years ago)
its pretty prudent of sb to get the protective kit considering a large family basically on single income. why take unnecessary risks.
prudent of everybody to wear a decent helmet if going nuts skating transition (that’s the curvy bits like ramps and bowls) because the board can whip out from underneath you and leave you flat on your back, head on the concrete. Lost a friend to this.
Best to avoid second hand helmets, you don’t know what damage has been done to them already.
Yes. You need a decent deck. Even a blank or reasonable second hand one would probably be nicer to ride than the one you posted earlier. Blanks are reasonably priced too.
Good luck with it all and let us know how you go.
Gives me an itch to head down to the DIY Skatepark at the Tannery…

Get wrist guards I reckon oh and YouTube “how to fall off a skateboard”
Make it the first ‘trick’ you do.
