It’s not about Hird.
A Graham appointment would not have generated this reaction. Which again, proves it’s not about Hird.
It is about the board and club leadership not listening to the fans. But rather trying to ‘outsmart’ them and appoint the President’s mate at exactly the time the fans were getting home for the last game to mitigate the backlash. Disgusting.
Welsh and his mates need to be thrown out of their roles.

Where’s the “who cares” option?
Maybe it is unfair, but that’s the problem with having a personality like Welsh having the majority voice in a coaching decision where his best mate is running…and gets the job.
Despite it being the least popular decision the club could make.
Popularity with the supporter base shouldn’t be a major factor, but if you want a galvanising person to bring the club together you picked the wrong man. Unfair on McVeigh, but that’s the truth.

Ive heard McVeigh’s family wont move down with him? Just wonder how sustainable this is, will he be disappearing all the time to go and see them? feels like a major distraction

Once again, Hird is also a mate of Welsh. I am not sure why any board of a football club would put the fans opinions above actual applicants resumes, presentations etc. Fans are not privvy to any of that. The club should not be appointing anyone to a position just on the ‘feels’ or ‘vibes’ from the fan base.

AFL football clubs are fan / member based not for profit organisations. they only exist for the benefit of their members. when push comes to shove you should run the organisation for the benefit and wishes of the members. there should be no place for nepotism or jobs for mates or even the appearance of such
