who is everyone’s second most liked team? Bulldogs for me. growing up in the northern suburbs I feel a connection to the working class roots of the west , and my junior footy team wore Footscray colours
It doesn’t matter who ‘leaked’ it. Once you’ve contacted McVeigh you contact the others.
The industry is small and nothing stays quiet - poor form.
Especially toward Hird. Show the man some ■■■■■■■ respect.
It feels a strong chance that Hird wasn’t in contention. Rumours that Welsh wanted Solly, when that became untenable he employed his next mate.
Did they just interview Hird to placate the fans.

I can’t say I’m thrilled with this. I looked at it as either a very highly regarded newcomer in Jaymie Graham (my personal preference) or someone who has the ability to pull the club together in Hird. McVeigh to me is very meh - we have effectively appointed someone who has never been in the running for any other senior job (as far as I know).
I hope I’m proven wrong.

Yet fans and members have no access to resumes, presentations etc to make an informed decision. How many fans have wanted Hird, also a great mate of Welsh, but that would be OK? We even have people calling up radio stations with unhinged rants about if their boy doesn’t get the job they and their wealthy mates will spill the board. It is bordering on obsessive & very destructive.

2 things can be true at once.
Yes he is good friends with Andrew Welsh and that there was a potential bias.
But he was also the candidate who presented the best to the selection committee which included but was not exclusively Andrew Welsh
Part of why it took so long was to assure there was no bias involved with the selection.
