The Pizza Thread

Yeah rocket put on after the pizza is cooked is kinda weird. Personally I don’t think prosciutto works either.

Can only do pineapple if it’s on a low rent Aussie/American with fake ham.

Chicken is what I won’t tolerate on a pizza.

Goofy’s in Buckley St do a fine Mexican. Nice and tangy!

Best I’ve run across on the SW Coast is Bojangles at the bottom end of Liebig St. Some rave about Coffin Sally in PF, but it’s too new-age for me. If it wasn’t a topping in the 80’s, it shouldn’t be a topping now.

Via Matta on Canterbury Rd in Vermont. Traditional Italian hospitality from the owner too.

When I was living in Thornbury/Preston between 1998-2005, Sylvesters on High Street was our go to for Pizza.
Easily the best in the area at the time.

@tinhillterror
Are they still there ?

Pizza Farro in High St not mentioned yet. They use spelt so great for any GF friends/family and the pizzas are top notch. Further up High, over Dundas is Noi which is very authentic wood fired. Can recommend Son of Pizzaiolo too - great wine list too

There used to be one on its own on Bell St (not too far south of Melville Rd) which did a good pizza. We stopped there on the way home from the final training session before the 1993 GF.
Maybe it’s still there (though the owners at the time may well be pushing up daisies by now…).
Maybe I just associate it with good memories…

Noi is amazing. Think they used to be in ivanhoe (different name I think).

Someone mentioned cornerstone. Their pizzas are good but since the changed owners the pastas and other crap has gone to ■■■■.

Camanetto is also great (pascoe vale rd I think)

+1 for cornerstone with the caveat that it often ends up soggy delivered and I live 3 minutes drive from there. Eat in is great.

Will have to give this a crack

Righto then on the east side of Melville…

Drove past them this morning in fact. It’s on the left, northbound. We usually get dumplings and noodles if we head out of town (over bell st), but maybe worth a stop at Sylvester’s

Depends on if you are buying it from a Pizza shop or at a decent restaurant.
I do have a couple of steadfast rules when choosing a pizza shop or when ordering pizza.

  • Must be a wood fired pizza oven
  • No more than 6 toppings
  • Under no circumstance should BBQ sauce be used
  • Must be cut up correctly ie triangle slices so every piece has crust
