The Pre-Season Supplemental Selection Period (SSP)

The Pre-Season Supplemental Selection Period (SSP) is an opportunity to rookie list any players who nominated for the draft but weren’t selected, or anyone who has previously been on an AFL list, not including anyone who has signed up to a club academy for 2022 as a 19 year old.

Clubs can have up to 6 players train during pre-season to earn a spot on the list prior to the season start.

Clubs must have an open spot on the rookie list in order to make use of the SSP rules (a spot can be created by moving a retired or injured player to the inactive list).

Essendon currently have 2 spots open
