Yeah he’s just so safe with everything he does, i mean that’s the ideal base to work off, but i thought this at under age level about him too. I’m surprised they haven’t encouraged him to go for some intercept marks a bit more in the vfl considering he’s there to develop, he needs to round out his game a bit more.
Yep agreed that’s the next step for him, along with beefing up which he’s now done.
However, let’s not forget Alec Waterman kicking four against Carlton in a pre season match. Would have been great to see him again against the cats
Waterman was still handy that year.
Waterman was worth it for the Eagles game alone… one of the few games I can actually recall from the past 10+ years.
And do tell us where would he sit in the current forward mix?
If Cox is LTI can we pick 2?
Whilst Edwards has missed out on many drafts, it is quite interesting that no one made a move for Baldwin after he got delisted. Even to train… that normally tells you all you need to. This is different to players not getting a chance when playing in reserves and clubs overlooking.
Baldwin is just too short to play KP and not agile, and injuries have slowed him down.
Think Voss for example… got a chance with Freo to train and he is on their list.

Wasn’t that the one the club put in their 150 years documentary gloating about the win and everybody here thought it was embarrassing? Then the eagles had some of the worst years for a footy club on record straight after.

Don’t know. Most things surrounding that 150 years were embarrassing as far as I could tell. I tried to block it out.
Even Denver what’s it called got a train on shot with Carlton and teams like the saints who are light on with defenders didn’t even have a nibble
Can’t really tell yet. I’m not going to base any call on him off half a practice game.
Sign the goal kicker.
Hayes needs some games for his development and can cover any minor injuries, if he isn’t ready we have Laverde and if any major ones happen we can then sign the KPD of our choice as needed.
Try to keep Hoare and Baldwin in the VFL setup should we need them at the mid season break. Just tell them to look at ZACH Reid’s injury history.
That’s the situation we’re in. The club has till Wednesday to decide. If he doesn’t play for us, he will play somewhere else. He accepted our invitation to train with us and got thrown into a game. He fulfilled all of our requests. Sign Edwards right away.
That’s the thing isn’t it a few are saying don’t read into half a game of footy but the same should be said of Baldwin.
Has he proven he is over the consistent injuries has he shown that he is up to the level after that foot injury it appears not
We take edwards and he wont kick another goal for 5 years while Baldwin is picked up by geelong and ends up winning a norm smith medal ![]()
The kindest thing to do then would be to let balders go ![]()
He doesn’t get another chance. SSP cut off is before the cats game.
I think we sign him early this week. I wouldn’t be shocked if another club tries to pinch him either
Cut off is friday.
I had a quick yarn to edwards after the game when he was doing laps. He had to get his kms up to a certain amount
Also was shown during the game … baldwin on interchange so much for the game. Its edwards spot done and dusted imo
Did you forget his repeated effort in the last quarter where he slipped over, beat the play, got up, just stayed in the contest the whole time?
What TMP and Jones were doing is the true question?
Do you not like Bombers winning & dislike players kicking goals?
We need a potential exciting goal-kicker more than we need a solid defender. The backline is already better covered than the forward line, an area where we need to kick more goals. Potentially up forward we have Caddy, Kako, Langford, Draper, Perkins and Gresham. Putting Edwards into that mix with rotations from the bench gives us a more exciting look. Adding Baldwin into our backline mix doesn’t add that excitement element. Nevertheless, if we have a potential LTI from among Cox, Davey or Guelfi, then maybe we could bring in both Edwards and Baldwin, but at this early stage of considering Edwards’ achievement on Saturday, he seems to have the edge to take an SSP position.
Probably makes sense the position is his that they got him to do the laps and Baldwin played in the vfl
