Had a look at the start list for the elite men and women’s races at the Nationals - The men’s race has held up better than expected, while the women’s race lacks depth - BEX has 3 in the men’s and 2 in the womens.
Time-trials are today.
Grace Brown easily wins the Womens ITT
Anya Louw wins the U23 Womens ITT
And Dennis smashes the mens elite ITT
why didn’t Porte bother to ride?
Doesn’t look like he’s riding the Nats.
Strava tells me he did a big ride in and around Launceston today.
He took a few CRs Monday.
Today was just the usual scottsdale loop. i’ve done that once took me closer to 6 hours though .
A couple of guys i run with do some rides with him, but I can’t even keep up with the old blokes round town , would be amazing to tag along.
I see how fast you run on Strava. I don’t have any doubt you could keep up with a fast bunch!
Durbridge has ridden a similar time in the ITT for the last four years which is his level - He’s not in the same form as an in-form Dennis who can top 3 in the world’s ITT this year in Wollongong.
Ah ! My early tip for the men’s elite RR, Simon Clarke just arrived in Girona for the ISN training camp after diverting through Milan to drop off his wife.
A blast from the past - Brendan Canty stayed in Spain after finishing his short-lived WT career - He’s working there and partnered with a Spanish singer.
He’s been working for EF Education First since he finished riding for them. In the finance team.
Matt Keenan the guest on this is your sporting life on SEN this morning.
Roxsolt dominate the Women’s RR from start to finish
Frain wins it, Grace Brown in the chasing group gets silver.
I wonder if Frain will make it back to Europe - She rode the back end of 2021 in Europe for Tibco including PR, though she has no contract for 2022 - Brown will never get a better opportunity to win the RR - Anyway the men’s race is down to the last 50kms with 16 riders in the front group - I still think there should not have been an elite RR in the last two years.
Plapp absolutely destroyed the mens field.
Only Whelan in the conversation.
Plapp rode a controlled race. Whelan could not even find a PCT or CT contract in Europe. He did suffer in Europe from obtaining a contract behind one European race. He was in discussions with BEX for 2022. Could Jerry pull the trigger.
