The question is whether this will be a full time role in the team or will it be a part time. I suspect Blummenfelt will be a full time pro. He will get a decent salary for a neo-pro which will be primarily funded by Giant. I have no idea about his characteristics but nearly all who have changed sport around his age, have become solid WT riders and not stars.
Bradbury is gifted stage three of TOS by Niewiadoma. This is a rider who Jayco needs to get on their team. Unbelievably, they made another unsuccessful attempt to get Gigante.
Yates to Visma and Oconnor to Jayco.
Not that keen on o’connor, seem like a giant whinge, gives up when things dont go his way, the tdf series on netflix is amazing and gives a real insight on the riders
O’Connors performance in the 2023 TDF was baffling when you consider he was third in the major lead up race Dauphine. Anyway, O’Connor’s form has been good in 2024 and he will be a good performer in 2025. Will say he is not as good GC GT rider as S.Yates, however he is a more versatile rider and better in one day races.
He has a good engine (diesel), will be interesting to see how he handles all the technical things, as ironman bike courses are generally flat and fast.
Bouwman to Jayco
I suspect this is so he can ride the TDF. He should do well as he can prepare himself to receive more opportunities.
My sister in law just got the call up for 2024 Para Road World Champs so I’m ecstatic right now.
And Paige Greco who’s in her same class is an interesting exclusion… wonder what’s happened there?
Jayco team for the TDF.
Groenewegen
Matthews
Yates
Juul Jensen
Harper
Durbridge
Mezgec
Reinders.
Its a meh team.
Stage hunting it appears.
AvB coming back it appears.
I would have left out Juul Jensen and Durbridge because Jayco have no reason to ride at the front of the peleton. I would have taken two of Schmid, Scotson or Foldager. Schmid is coming good after an injury affected season and could help Bling in transitional stages and Yates in medium mountains. Scotson could help with the sprint train or help in medium mountains, while Foldager the neo pro could do similar.
Anyway, Bling is in form and should win a stage, while Groenewegen is s chance in a poor sprint field, while Yates can do a good GC but will find it hard to win a stage.
Cycling team for Olympics is released tomorrow.
Mens team likely to be Bling, Plapp and Groves.
Womens team is Brown, rosemanGannon. Unsure of third position.
I posted a few months ago that Brown was likely to retire. Her partner does not have the type of job where he can WFH.
I dont understand the delay in naming the cycling team for the Olympics. Should have released on 21 June.
Groenewegen with a dominant sprint to win the Dutch Championship, while Schmid easily wins the Swiss Cahmpionship. Posted that Schmid was good in Suisse, and its criminal that he missed selection for the TDF.
Jayco win the first two stages in Slovakia. A dominant display to win the TTT by 25 seconds and then Foldager easily wins the uphill sprint. I did suggest Foldager for the TDF. Apparently, S.Yates is flying in training and going as well as Adam.
Hindley extends with Bora
Can’t wait for it. Should be a more even battle between the Pog and Vin this year. Tipping Pog on form.
I’d like to see Pog win…how much will the impact of doing the Giro D’Italia effect Pog in the last week is the question.
And with Vinegard assume he gets better the longer it goes on.
