That. Last part from the tunnel to the top was a horrendous
My time of 50 min well outside
The pogs time of 22 minutes it I’m blaming the headwind I had as soon as
I turned
Onto the galabier

Unless he kills himself… and he had a decent attempt at that via the traffic island last night.
They were a bit cheap not having guys waving on those many islands.
The final went as I predicted. Between 5km to 1.7kms to go, Jayco got Groenewegen in the bubble and into a position to contest the final. And he finished off the job.
As a spectacle that stage last night was not real exciting for the casual viewer. I could have just turned it on for the last 5 km, and gotten all the action.
My interest in those stages is usually about how the different teams combine with and against each other, within the team how they position their riders to get their designated rider up. The bunch sprint is the culmination of excitement with the lead outs etc.
I missed most of it as I went to sleep at Beaune.
Yeah, save your pennies on sprint stages.
They only get interesting if there’s enough cross winds to cause echelons.
Yeah, I just go the one-hour highlights for the sprint stages.
Gotta get some sleep every few days…
To be honest, time trials are almost as bad.
We have one tonight.
Time trials are the pits for my viewer satisfaction. My focus will be on the Tour of Austria.
That last time trial of Cadell Evans when he won the TDF was riveting though.
They are boring full stop. However, i enjoy teams time trial in which strategy is important.
André Drege of coop-repsol was killed on stage 4 of tour of Austria in a crash on descent of Großglockner.
He’d signed with Jayco for next year.
That is correct, Drege had signed for Jayco in 2025. Again it emphasises cycling is a beautiful sport, albeit a dangerous sport.
Bling was awful in yesterday’s stage. He complained he was poor in Suisse, yet, IMO he showed a good level. Expect some carnage in the gravel stage. I expect Pogacar to really attack this stage. Jayco needs to get in the break. I’d aim for Bling and Mezgec.
Love the inclusion of the gravel. It’s great to see something different to test the peloton
Riding race or running race?
There will be some iconic photos of all those riders running up that gravel road!
Another win for the small teams with Antony Turgis of Total Direct energies winning from the break away. Bling was back in form but was in the wrong group. If he did not have a bad day yesterday, he could have won stage eight. It was a rubbish ride by S.Yates today who did not even try. There is no way you enter the first gravel stage in last place. He’ll have to chase stages.
Giro Femmes started today. In a surprise ELB beat Brown by one seond in the ITT. It was a poor ride by mavi Garcia to lose 1m and 20 seconds. I don’t understand why Jayco do not have Baker or Paternoster ( I know they are riding track at the Olympics ) at this race for the sprints.
At least, unlike a particular past cheat, they took their bike with them…
El traktor the biggest rider in the peloton didn’t get off
Love that man
Bardet still got legs to be low-fiving everyone up the bloody hill like that.
