A meek and mild stage 6 of the Vuelta turned wild in the last 25 kms - First surprise of the day was Porte getting into the break on a flat stage which shows his mental state - Race turned on it’s head by a crash and then cross-winds - Kelderman and Pinot missed the split and dropped 1m and 43s - This is a great result for Yates as Kelderman could have taken time in the ITT - Great riding by Albasini to ensure S.Yates made the front split - In the final sprint Trentin went to early and faded to fifth - Bouhanni won the stage from Van Poppel and Viviani - Viviani should have won the stage but was surprisingly out of position, while Sagan is still struggling for form.

THAT could have been Ewan if he played his cards right.

Lets see how Ewan goes against much tougher sprint opposition at the Tour of Britain.

TOB team is Ewan,Kluge, Hamilton, Power, Tuft, Meyer - Ewan fails to win a stage and then it’s truly an Annus Horribilis season - And this will be Ewan’s last race for the season - The sprint field is no tougher at the TOB - After all, Viviani has been the best sprinter for 2018.

And Gllopin wins stage 7 of the Vuelta in a sketchy finish from Sagan and Valverde - Haig did an excellent job of guiding S.Yates through the final - Kwiatkowski crashed on a descent and lost 29 seconds - Tomorrow is a day for Sagan.

Valverde outsprints Sagan and Van Poppel to win stage 8 of the Vuelta. It was a surprise to see Valverde over the top in the last 50 metres.S.Yates a close up 7th. Today is the first real climb of the Vuelta and hopes will be dashed.

Valverde is still one of the fastest uphill sprinters out there.

Absolutely so. Still a surprise to see anyone come over the top of Sagan.

I suspect Today could go to the break. would like to see A.Yates in the break.

Yeh even money the break gets it. But there should be plenty of GC action too.
Quintana vs Simon Yates?

Sagan penalized 20 seconds for drafting team cars yesterday

And Ben King wins his second stage from the breakaway defeating Mollema and Theuns - Doubt King will be allowed into any more breaks - The peleton lead by Kelderman, Lopez and Quintana finish 2m and 40 s back - then three seconds to Uran, another 33 seconds to Jon Izagirre and three more seconds to S.Yates - The upshot is after struggling late on the climb is Yates goes into the red jersey by one second from Valverde - Big fail by Bora and Lotto NL Jumbo who pushed the pace on the climb to find Buchmann, Kruisjwilk and G.Bennett struggle in the final 2 kms.

Yates was 9 seconds down on Kelderman, Lopez and Quintana.
All three looked a little stronger than Yates, but I’m also not sure that he was on the limit either.

Ewan cant get it done in at the ToB, 2nd to Greipel on stage 1.

Ewan just got nutted by Greipel after Gaviria went too early in the sprint - Ewan will get more chances this week though he misses Mezgec as his final rider.

Cameron wins stage two of the TOB from the break - He can ride a good GC but may lose time in the TTT - The late withdrawal of Tuft is a blow to his GC ambitions.

Will Clarke to Trek - 2 year deal

Somehow Will Clarke continues to survive in the WT. He strikes me as a PCT rider.

I was surprised it was a 2 year deal.
