I have heard nothing about Plapp breaking his wrist, however he does have trouble staying on his bike. My understanding is Jayco think Schmid can just about win the race.
I worry about the women’s RR because if there are crashes/injuries then Liv Alula will struggle to field a team in the TDU. They needed to bring another one or two of the overseas contingent to Australia.
Will watch a replay of the Criteriums later. No surprise that one of the Liv Alula riders could ride away from that field and Welsford won the men’s.
Will be watching the RR from my sofa on Sunday. Unsure of what what will happen with the new course but my two outsiders are Plouffe and Stannard.
No, not in Perth, but having lived there for a long while in the past I know the courses.
The crits were good, U23 mens was close, Jayco played the numbers game in the womens, and no surprises with Welsford, clearly the fastest guy there, taking the men’s elite.
If plapp has a broken wrist ( unless its a hairline fracture ) he will not be riding at the TDU. Yes, he could ride the ITT and on the odd day but riding a six day stage race is a different matter. Jayco may have to get a rider from their overseas contingent. i wonder if Baker was involved in the same crash as she was a last minute withdrawal from the Nationals.
You expect that Jayco will be all over Baudry and try to get him on a French club team this year and to haegens in 2026.
What’s the strory with the women’s junior RR. An average speed of 34kms is barely a training ride.
He’s not visibly injured so might be overplayed a bit. Was out and about at the Crits yesterday and engaging with fans via his GWM ambassador arrangement with no cast etc. Sounds minor.
It seems like the women’s elite is trying to follow the lead of the junior women’s race. It’s been an uninspiring race with 40kms to go. It does not help when they have ONLY a 109km event.
That none of the WT team riders waved a flag at all, except Spratt when it was far too late.
I’d love to see the Australian jersey in the WT, but we’re not going to this year.
Stewart is good. She will get a few WT rides once she adapts to European conditions. Anyway, she is off to Europe on Tuesday for the Conti team camp. Gee, this is a finish for Ewan if he stayed on the rails.
Pretty much. The big name riders didn’t give the break much respect, and once the break was out to what 6 minutes, it’s far too late.
You want to see the best riders at the pointy end of the national championship, and we didn’t see that.
