So the story goes that XTC’s Andy Partridge was hired to produce what became Blur’s 2nd album.
He famously did not get along with their manager and Damon Albarn (his quote “Damon spends a lot of time practising being Damon”).
Only a couple of songs were finished but never released. If you ask me, this version craps all over the released version…

That was cool, rawer leaner sound, slightly snottier vocals, lots of XTC in the feel too. Nice one, yes.
