remember Ivan likes it old school. NO MERCY!
Hahaha. Nah, my post just did random bold for some reason, I wasn’t calling anything out.
Plus I think you were using it correctly for present tense anyway.
i’m going for a complete change of pace here.
i have been listening to lots of film scores while working through lockdown.
Danny Elfman is probably most famous for his theme for Tim Burton’s Batman but i love this composition from a film i’ve never seen
Listening to a film score out of the context of the film itself, is quite boring imo.
Have a welcome back, good bloke, first ball, free Yes
certainly they’re more about colour and rhythm which is what makes them so good for working to
that sounds like a challenge.
Yep
Yes.
Always good to hear something different.
That was ok - Yes
Yep.
5-0
Get around the comeback kid!
I’ll toss in a yes
Yeah
Nice thread title Swoods.
so 7-0 spin again right?
more film stuff but something different. i never liked NIN and had little time from Trent Reznor’s antics but his work in this film made me sit up and take notice. that said i wonder how much of what i like is his and how much is Atticus Ross
Yes. As much as I don’t particularly like Reznor, I have enjoyed a bunch of his work over the years.
Not a huge fan of NiN, or Reznor, or movie scores out of context…
You’re making it hard.
Yes because I like the movie.
i dunno, i get they’re out of context in one sense but in another they are the context. a good score is often the emotional core of the movie and it’s tempo. Good scores can stand on there own pretty comfortably as musical works, indeed at times they can carry a pretty average film. I’m almost certain that Star Wars wouldn’t have worked as well without Williams’ absolutely smashing it out of the park.
anyway, we’ll see how we score here i guess…
Absolutely, I don’t think there’s much doubt about that.
I still wouldn’t listen to the star wars score by itself, though. Like, not in a million years.
I find it really difficult to forgive Reznor for foisting the execrable Marilyn Manson on the world…
Bare yes…
Manson > Reznor
By a margain.
