The Reigning Dj King (Mk XIII) is @nobody...it's Blonde DJ Time again with @mrjez being at his divisive best (Part 1)

Fark yeah! I won’t let anyone else compete just to make it easier.

Don’t forget, I have German heritage.

Was it Dragon or Jo Jo Zep that played in Texas, had bottles thrown at them and criticised their aim?

“No wonder you lost the ■■■■■■■ Alamo…”

I’ve always thought Australian and NZ acts had a touch of self-defeatism…

What a great post @swoodley

I was lucky enough to experience similar …

I’ll always remember my older brother taking about INXS one Sunday with his mates … they went to the comb and cutter in Blacktown to see them and that was a very rough place to go…the went on surf trips were my brothers mate just played the first 2 inxs albums back to back …

My local was a place called Swethearts at Cabramatta which was just as tough( drive by shooting one night ) but was lucky enough to guys on door( Māori mafia) the DjS and numerous girls behind the bar some who I’m still friends with now …

The highlight will always be a midweek underage THe Cure gig around 1982 a am x school mate was like let’s go and I’ll never forget … intersting seeing them on Countdown the following weeknd and the bass players strings were so looosenthey were touching each other lol

Went to many rocktober concert of the decades at the opera house and yes they were all free …

Congratulations @mrjez on the win …

Operation Thumb a success hopefully back on the bike in 4 weeks back on my trainer 10 days :grinning::pray:

There was a place I remember in Sydney called the Sydney cove Tavern that had netting in front of the band ….I asked my tradesman who was a an inner city type with cheetah coloured hair who used to take me to a lot of alternative gigs in the early 80,s h

His reply if they don’t like the band they will throw schooner glasses at them maybe even try to fight them !

Haha, thanks for clarifying things for the guy who never read any further to see what actually happened :joy:

So as I said, I won’t spin past yesterday. The song got lost in the great chat here yesterday, and didn’t really matter anyway.

@Doggatron please step up and resume your set, cheers for stepping aside whilst the comp run.

How slim are the odds of the double up track out of all of the competitors being the one to score the most votes?

That made the comp so much more entertaining. I feel for Peos. I reckon his heart would have been sinking a little lower with each vote.

I thought he ran a great comp.
It’s difficult, and getting moreso with so many competitors.

Absolutely. It’s always chaos behind the scenes and it’s open all hours for days on end.

Yep.
All the pressure is self-imposed, but it’s there.
You feel expected to be ready to go whenever the last voter/dj enters their submissions.

So, I’m thinking sax solos for the next wild card round…

I love this concept that I rigged the game, but not so I could win, but so MrJez could win for some reason. (Seriously, if I was gonna rig it for anybody, it would have been Frosty.)

Just to be clear, making that mistake completely ruined the whole competition for me. I derived no joy from it past that point, it was just a time-consuming chore I had to do… With the flu.

Probably a better theme than 1984.

Coincidental to Depeche Mode being the last track spun, keyboardist Andy Fletcher has just died.

Come now… the joy surely went out of it the minute it became apparent 1984 would be the finals round. Or was that merely the final straw?

I always wondered exactly what was Fletch’s role in DM? He seemed to be in “the Bez role”…
