The Reigning Dj King (Mk XV) is...@chewy_boy...on victory lap number three after another win in Blonde DJ (Part 1)

Do you still have the shirt?

We need to see it.

Diggers-esque

Perhaps a paisley vest would have been the better choice.

Nah… finally brought myself to toss it a while back, and no photographic evidence exists.

Not a million miles away from this (less blue and more datk green though…)

Yep, not good…

Not entirely convinced about that. Perhaps if the paisley vest was accompanied by a white collar shirt and black shoelace tie with eagle fastener?..

I have a very similar shirt.

I probably had half a dozen paisley shirts at one time…they were great

Hey look…theres a time and a place for anything. I shan’t judge brother. Let your freak flag fly!

Yeah, look… I had several paisley shirts at that point, but no others that had a price tag roughly equivalent to a small plot of suburban land.

This was more the fact that I had misguidedly thought a girl would be impressed by such an investment (she wasn’t) and would collapse, swooning, into my arms (she didn’t).

My other (probably Myer or Target) paisleys would’ve garnered exactly the same result. At a fraction of the cost…

Tighter now @Maxx , it is now grid locked on 6-6.

Who will cast the winning/losing vote is anyone’s guess

I once spent nearly $100 on a lemon v necked t-shirt (back in early '82).

Not for any girl…just because I liked it.

It was a great shirt but got me into a bit of strife at work one day.

I was working in the old CES as a member of the relief team…basically, we got sent to an office when someone went on leave.

So I rock up to Newport CES one Monday morning for a three week stint, wearing said lemon shirt, and proceed to do my work…mid afternoon, the supervisor of the front part of the office (where I was working) comes up to me and tells me that I am dressed inappropriately!!!

Now this was mid 80s APS…no real dress code at all…and so I ask what the problem is.

She tells me that my shirt is inappropriate as it has no collar and I cannot wear a tie with. I look at her like she’s the dumbest person I’ve ever met and ask (sarcastically) why would I need to wear a tie…as previously mentioned, there was no real dress standard.

She says that I might be needed to go out to see employers and so need to be able to wear a tie.

I calmly point out to her that there are probably at least 7-8 people in the office who would go out before me and see no problem with my shirt…and tell her how it’s probably worth more than her entire outfit that she’s wearing at the time (strangely, this did not go over well).

She insists that I wear a collared shirt for work starting the next day.

Next day I rock up to work in a paisley shirt…show her that it’s got a collar and point out that I cannot for the life of me think what tie would go with the shirt.

Wednesday, I wear a “grandpa” shirt…again, had a collar (well, half a one) and discussed the possibility of wearing a tie with it.

Thursday, an incredibly loud hawaiian shirt…again collared, again, no idea what sort of tie I could wear with it.

Finally we got to Friday and I wore a polo shirt…collared but totally impractical for pairing with a tie.

At this stage, she gives up and tells me that I can wear whatever I like when I come back on Monday.

And here was the sweetest moment of them all.

I calmly told her that I won’t be coming back on Monday as I’d spoken to my boss about my situation and how I didn’t feel appreciated…and so my boss was sending me to another office, thus leaving Newport short staffed. I pointed out that whilst I had been there, I had done more than my share of the work (typical for a reliever) and that maybe next time she gets some help, she’ll be more appreciative of it.

The look on her face was priceless!!!

I was nearly going to affiliate with the story as the 1982 Lemon V Neck T-shirt, I did the same sort of thing. First year High School 1983 l chose the Pink V Neck Knitted Jumper with baggy Jeans and Adidas Romes.

Then the story changed, as I was just starting out in life, and @swoodley was casualy ending his

Nothing annoys me more than strict dress code for a job where you aren’t face to face with customers.

My first job out of uni was a sh*t internal sales job (i.e, call centre) where I was on the phone all day and never once saw a customer, even from a distance.

Still had to wear a shirt with tie, slacks with a belt and proper shoes, and be clean shaven every day. I didn’t last long there.

I’m surprised you lot can recall when and where you wore certain clothes so vividly. I can’t even remember what colour suit I wore at my wedding.

Was it hot pink?

Now THAT I’d remember.

I was just thinking today about some boots I bought from Rocco’s that I wore at my wedding. Still have them.
