This track reminds me of regularly going to see bands. The Corner, The Prince, The Central Club, The Evelyn, The Punters Club etc etc. There always seemed to be something on and someone playing.
Pollyanna were one of those perennial support acts… often playing, regular indie radio play, but never quite big enough to crack it while other equal (sometimes lesser) acts went on to bigger and better things…

It was interesting that early on they had a 7” on Desoto Records from DC, a label run by Kim from Jawbox. Their sound wasn’t that far removed from Jawbox at that point, but I always wondered how a lighter sounding indie band from the other side of the world got connected to the DC scene like that.

Indeed. I always thought they were nothing more than ok to decent… the odd natty tune, (like this one) but otherwise reasonably interchangeable with a lot of other Oz bands at the time.

Saw Rocket science a few times in smaller venues, they always blew the roof off.

And yes for Pollyanna, who I saw a few times at the espy and they were pretty good.
Always had them in the same boat as Front End Loader, as bands who should have been bigger.
