I hate cats
It has to be from a new album of new music released in 2023.
It cannot be a remastered album…or a greatest hits album…or a track off a soundtrack where the sing is not new…or a single released this year that will appear on an album being released next year.
It needs to be a new song off an new album of new material released in 2023!!!
Typo second sentence
Good morning you lot.
It’s true…I did stay up way past my bedtime in the hope that PP2 would send his votes through.
Alas it wasn’t to be.
But they’re in now…votes have been tallied…PMs answered…spreadsheet updated and details of votes ready to be revealed.
Thanks to a few of you for your high quality rants.
Now…I think I’ll just have some breakfast.
Before or after Church?
Ok…just joking about breakfast…I’ll sacrifice myself so that you can all get your fix of Blonde DJ.
Just a reminder that we had 16 players fighting it out for 4 spots in the finals.
I think that I’ll reveal the individual votes first so that the tension can build.

Hello Swoods,
5 Moby - Porcelain
4 AC/DC - Kicked in the Teeth
3 Alice Cooper - Blue Turk
2 Blink-182 - I Miss You
1 Stevie Wonder – Uptight
Then
5 Stevie Wonder - Uptight
4 Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks - Spazz
3 Alice Cooper - Blue Turk
2 Nick Cave and the bad seeds - Mercy Seat
1 Arctic Monkeys - Do I wanna know
as always no real rhyme or reason to my voting, I guess that’s what makes bdm so fun, so thanks for running this one again.
Followed by:
Hiya Swoods,
Thanks again for running the comp. Love it!
5 Song 2 Blur
4 Yesterday The Beatles
3 Senses working overtime XTC
2 Common People Pulp
1 See the world Gomez
And then:
@Crazy_Bomber
My Votes for the next round:
5 - Blink182 - I miss you
4 - Moby - Porcelain
3 - Gomez - See the World
2 - The Beatles - Yesterday
1 - Blur - Song 2
5th set of votes came from Bakes along with one of his quality rants…he didn’t hold anything back :
5 votes: XTC - Senses Working Overtime
Well, duh… But I mean, it just fits the theme so very well. 1,2,3,4,5…and all that…
4 votes: Pulp - Common People
It’s just a great song… a true banger.
3 votes: Stevie Wonder - Uptight
Amazing to think he was barely 20 (if that) when he put this together. Unfathomable that this and absolute bilge like “I Just Called So Say I Love You” and “Part Time Lover” came from the same person.
2 votes: Faith No More - Digging The Grave
A very under-rated album in FNM’s catalogue this one. It’s probably my favourite of theirs.
1 vote: Talking Heads - Slippery People
Not their best, by a long chalk… but enough for the 1.
Q: How do you know if someone’s vegan?
A: Oh don’t worry, they’ll tell you!
Fark Moby!! Sideways, and with a very long, very sharp and very rusty implement. That farking boring album of his came out in 1999 just as me and Mrs B started going out. The number of farking boring parties I got dragged along to at that time full of pretentious wankers with that dreary crap playing in the background! Jesus… the memories!! It’s a miracle that we lasted beyond a bare handful of dates… Fark Moby… boring vegan wanker!!
Then:
Old balls!
That was a surprsingly good round.
5 - Song 3. Moby - Porcelain.
4 - Song 6. Pulp - Common People.
3 - Song 15. Alice Cooper - Blue Turk. That was a nice surprise.
2 - Song 2. Blur - Song 2.
1 - Song 4. Arctic Monkeys - Do I Wanna Know.
Cheers legend!
next up:
Well it looks like everyone went pretty pedestrian with their picks, myself included. Either way, pretty inoffensive setlist.
5 - Yesterday. Beatles. Wouldnt have been my pick. Ive Just Seen a Face is the sleeper on Help for me.
4 - Uptight. Stevie Wonder. Hard to belive he was 5 albums deep by the time this came out.
3 - Kicked in the teeth. Acdc. Bog standard acca Dacca song.
2 - Do I wanna know. Arctic Monkeys. Pretty good riff.
1 - Blue Turk. Alice Cooper. Never heard this. Pretty cool tune.
Great show swoods. I go no rant. Hopefully something really grinds my gears in the final round…
Then AVander had a few words to say:
Interesting mix of songs… mostly good… as usual I have no idea what people are going to vote for.
Strategic voting? I never have. If I did I would vote for ACDC. Every song and every album after Back in Black (I assume they pinched Bon Scott’s lyric book when he died) sounds the same and is trash (ok… Thunder Struck is the best of this repeatative trash) … It is the one song (ok maybe the beatles as well) I think this crowd won’t let through… so votes that won’t hurt my chances… but ■■■■ that… I will continue to play the songs I like and vote for the songs I like until eventually this crowd evolves to where I win…
5 Votes - Stevie Wonder - magical
4 Votes - Nick Cave - Lots of hit and miss from Nick for me over the years… but plenty to like including this one
3 Votes - Pulp - probably my least favorite of the big Brit Pop bands but still wrote some great songs
2 Artic Monkeys - evolved… as you need to if you want to have a long and interesting career
1 Moby - I listened to this album a lot back in the day. By all accounts he was a total ■■■■… then again most vegans are… great album
I still think my song is clearly the best and I could have had 5 others that should be top 4 and finals bound. Of course the ■■■■■ in this thread will give it ■■■■ all… their loss. I will be driving with the windows down all summer listening to Stephen Malkmus albums on repeat and loving life
#■■■■ the 80’s

3 - Stevie Wonder - Uptight (Everything’s Alright)
2 - blink-182 - I Miss You
1 - Arctic Monkeys - Do I Wanna Know?
Thanks @swoodley
Measured feedback from Chewy:
This round was like going to the spare room, dusting of containers and rediscovering your old Cd collection. Then reacquainting yourself with old friends and memories of different times.
Im guessing any rants will be about tracks played before.
Lifetime’s List.
With popular songs i always take a glance as you do leave votes on the table if played before.
Makes the game saltier vote wise.
And the truly popular vote goes out the window.
In my own research for this round. I also had xtc on my short list.
Senses working overtime… way to risky…No thugs in our house was my cut.
Interesting to see what the voters do.
5 - Pulp - Common People
4 - Stevie Wonder - Uptight
3 - Talking Heads - Slippery People
2 - Arctic Monkeys - Do I wanna Know
1 - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Mercy Seat ( i also had short listed )
LCD Soundsystem - Call the Police was my choice if the Tramps got Trumped…
Tinhill:
Ok legend, here’s the votes
5 Song 5
Stephen Malkmus And The Jicks - Spazz
Always happy to hear something decent, new and a little out there. This one was worth a listen.
4 Song 2
Blur - Song 2
This was a nostalgic track for me. Must’ve been summer 99/00 and working at the Lorne Hotel. The cover band (Eddie would go) only had about 12 songs, the played the same set 3 times that night, the crowd went mental every time they played this.
3 Song 7
Deep Purple - Demon’s Eye
They have so many other great tracks, but this one was ok.
2 Song 10
Stevie Wonder - Uptight (Everything’s Alright)
Had some highs and lows, but worth a vote, 2 is ok, but maybe a bit generous.
1 Song 14
Gomez - See The World
Something I hadn’t heard before, so a bonus vote for a new track. On second listen it wasn’t great, but it didn’t have much competition.
Listening back now, maybe the beastie boys would’ve been a better option. Oh well, great competition, big week again.
cummy was next:
@cummy_scant
5 votes - do I wanna know (my original song so I can’t not vote for it)
4 votes - Stevie Wonder uptight
3 votes - blink 182 miss you, not the best song off that album, maybe not even top 5 but still makes it for me on this list.
2 votes - talking heads
1 vote – ACDC
