The Sherrin Footy

A rock hard Sherrin is a killer on the handball and does take a quarter or so to soften up at the pointy ends. Hand balling hurts less during a game - good old adrenaline.
Used Burleys a few times in the NT. Didn’t like. Found hard to kick. Depends what you grow up with I guess
And a red ball is definitely better to mark!

I’ve always found the Burley footies a bit too round. They use them in WA. I’ve never kicked a Ross Faulkner, always had the Sherrin. But agree, the new ones very hard and pointy at the ends and they do need kicking in. I know Fev is not thought of as a clever bloke, but he did come up with a good point that they should allow both teams to use the game footies in their pre-game warm-up to wear them in a little before the game starts. I wouldn’t like us to go down the path Eddie suggested in having our ball made from a synthetic material and have the rubber type dimples on it…

Yeah I remember Fev saying that. Shame no one takes him seriously. But I suppose one good idea out of a thousand doesn’t help your credibility
