The thing is Nino, often a tennis career is about incremental improvement.
He had never passed the third round at a slam before this. In fact he’d been there 5 times previously and not advanced.
Now, in the space of a month he has won a Masters 1000 tournament where he beat some of the best in the world, then he has broken through here at the US Open and got to the 4th round by beating Novak no less.
He’ll get enormous self belief from the way he’s finished this season and he’ll be better for it. His trajectory is up. It doesn’t go from 0-100 all at once.

also its not how many points you can win its which points you can win. getting over the mental hudle of a break is huge for ability to go on and win a set let alone a match
