The Tennis Thread - from Jan 2020 (Part 2)

Purcell has been charged with using a prohibited method. Which is having an IV drip containing vitamins that is more than the 100mls allowed under the WADA Code. Reckon this happens many times but is hard to prove.

like jobe eh?

Nope totally diffrent players didn’t test postive to anything and didnt admit they doped to gain an advantage if anything they were duped by that bastard Dank.

The AFL shouldn’t be tied to Wada it’s a sport that’s only played in Australia we should have our own anti doping authoritiy with our own set of guide lines and rules that fits the sport. And no not Asada they follow Wada

Purcell hasn’t tested positive nor admitted to taking a banned substance either.

And while that would be great, AFL would take a massive hit financially.

…hell probably ā– ā– ā– ā–  up the wedding though because he’s ā– ā– ā– ā– , hey Nino?

I dont think he’s ā– ā– ā– ā–  I like him just doesnt have the game to go to the next level where he can win slam

I have hope for Maya Joint.

Was it unlucky.

Doubt I would bring it up given how Essendon were treated after coming forward.

On his Instagram account, he posted that he had unknowingly infused vitamins above the prescribed limit.

So probably a 12 month ban, if not 24.

Anyone else struggling to be interested in tennis with Nadal, fed gone, and Djokovic largely on the way out?

Kgyrios really ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  up. He should be the number one man in tennis at the moment, both on and off the court. There is a massive void there for someone like him to fill. Real shame.

reportedly he told hospital he was elite athlete and needed to be less than 100ml.

they stuffed up and gave him more.

Sound familiar?

Agree about nick such a waste of talent. John Mcenroe claims he the most talented player he’s ever seen.

Still going to watch i’m a fan of Carlos,Sinner,Sabalenka,Rybakina

Yep. I’ll start tuning in from today and I’m looking forward to the AO in a couple of weeks.

Not really. I like Sinner a lot and find his personality to be a bit of a palette cleanser after so many years of Djokovic domination. If Alcaraz didn’t grunt, he’d be one of the most likeable players I’ve seen on the mens tour. For me, those 2 are about equal to Nadal + Djokovic in terms of how much I enjoy their presence in the sport and watching them live. Would be great if there was one more superstar who also acted like a pro should, but having 2/3 in their early 20s is pretty good for now.

The issue for me is the rest of the top 10, but that’s been a problem for well over 5 years, so I can’t say that’s due to Nadal being gone and Djokovic going. Zverev is basically the villain of the sport, Medvedev and Rublev can’t control themselves on the court even though they seem nice enough off it, and Ruud already appears to have peaked. Fritz looks a possibility to spice up the semi-final stages of slams more than he has in the past, but he’s not as good to watch as Sinner and Alcaraz. At least he has Zverev’s number.

If they removed that funding how would it change the game as we know it? Salaries lower, less coaches. I don’t think it would be a big deal.

What a horrible performance from the mixed doubles i thought Perez and Ebden were two of the best double players in the world yet they got flogged lols

No AFLW, reduced access to council owned grounds & reduced funding for grass roots.
AFLPA & EBA would prevent any immediate reduction in salary cap or player wages.

Thinking about going on the first Sunday evening of the Australian open.

Who usually plays the opening night? An Australian? The world number 1?

Any idea? Or lucky dip?
