He’s basically a poor man’s David Ferrer. Solid player who will grind and chase and hustle and make squillions doing so but when the pressure is dialled right up either his game or his nerve will be found wanting.

I don’t know what Novak is trying to achieve any more. Cos even fully fit, and fully healthy (which seems to be basically never) he isn’t going through Sinner, Alcaraz and even probably a couple of others any more to win 7 games, best of 5 sets in 2 weeks to win that final slam he’s after. Even with Sinner absent here in the US Open it still wasn’t happening.

So satisfying to see that ■■■■ knocked out in the 1st round.
Kenin comes back from 2-6 in the 2nd set tie-break to win it 8-6 and the match in straight sets to knock out Venus Williams.
I can understand him going on because excluding the last 2 Grand slams, he had 5 semis and a final in her previous 6 grand slams.
It’s a disgrace that Venus and Serena continue to receive wildcards into major tournaments. Its not like they are struggling for a dollar, so this should be given to players who need the big break. Watched the second set of Williams, and despite her ground strokes being fine, she no longer has the movement to support her game.
