The Twit show Musk go on

■■■■ Edison

People are moving from pure EV to Hybrid, like a tidal wave.
Tesla has no offering.
A decision to develop a hybrid needed to be made 2+ years ago, and the idealogical decision to only do EV is in business terms a farking disaster, but Musk is like cyanide to the brand now

yeah for sure . I think these things will ebb and flow . hybrids are getting very good and in a country like Australia with such long distance driving that are good. it’s horses for courses . I could do either . I’d like to see plug in hybrids get longer range for those that do a lot of local weekly short distance driving and have the option of long range petrol for the long trips . a lot of the plug in hybrids don’t have much ev only range . I’d be out odr if it had to be charged every day or 2. need to get a comfortavle week in between charges i reckon and you could use it mainly as an ev

I believe the future is pure EV, but there needs to be an interim period of the hybrids. The Prius was so before its time but emerging battery technologies will eventually prevail.
Right now, Tesla has limited its own success with its cybertruck abortion, the obsession with the holy grail of fully autonomous drive and the failure to add to the capability of its range with a hybrid offering.

Trumps tariffs and Elons hubris will damage Tesla. Musk might be best to cut his losses and sell Tesla for it to survive this fiasco

Tesla could have all its eggs in one basket with EV if, instead of cybertrucks and autonomous driving, it focused on making the batteries smaller.

Something like, if the car’s normal battery on charge gave a full eight hours of driving, then a plug in smaller battery could keep it going for another two hours.

A battery small enough you could charge it from a wall socket at home or in the office, and cheap enough that you could have a few of them stored in your boot.

Tesla price lost 10 percent yesterday (albeit from a strangely fluctuating short term peak). Sooner or later, the shareholders are gonna mutiny.

It becomes a law of diminishing returns though. You end up using more space, and carrying more weight for “insurance” , as a drain on the permanents. If/when they can make batteries smaller and retain the output, then those batteries will become the permanent, onboard ones.

My brother-in-law owns a Tesla and my takeaway of it is that it’s filled with useless gimmicky ■■■■. His kids sit in it and make the horn various weird noises, it’s got a PA system, goodness knows what else. They think it’s hilarious. I think it’s idiotic. Entirely subjective, of course.

In comparison, a friend bought a BYD . And to my surprise, that feels like a real car. Rear wheel drive, it handles a lot like my commodore. Much better than I’d anticipated, and a better balance of traditional vs space age.

Tesla $479.86 on 17/12 down to $239.43 now – down 49.9%! Was actually lower back in March, through.

However… if you take out the last six months, it’s just back on track. Guessing some people liked the idea of a leopard in charge, and now they don’t.

Humble patriotic brag. Unless it’s one of those Opels. Which I quite like too

Drove my son’s Seal the other day. I prefer the Volvo Ex40, but it’s a nice ride for a lot less $.

Did he buy it in navy?

Boom-tish.

Technically, they were all somewhat Opel derived, emerging from the V78 footprint. Though by the time we got to the VF, there was very little VB series left in it :grinning:

And yeah, my Vyii handles like any self respecting family sedan should. :muscle:

I think it’s $110 before the lenders make their call.

This I knew, when I was a kid someone gave me a little ‘evolution of the Commodore’ handbook, we had an L wagon at the time and it was pretty cool (but also a little disappointing) to see pics of all these little Euro numbers evolving into that shape over the years.

Hybrids are populer now, and probably for the next couple of years. Then no one will want them as batteries will improve and they will realise that an EV suits them fine. The Hybrids will then be worth squat. People are just scared of what they don’t understand.

Surely even the person of the most average intelligence knows the difference between socialism and communism…

Shouldn’t the handsome homoerotic chad bro be wearing the Russia shirt these days, not the cuck trans lefty?

Also, I don’t remember Mexico building that big beautiful wall.

I had the displeasure of listening to part of Musk’s town hall. The overwhelming feeling was: he’s a horrible communicator and really struggles to engage and inspire. If I worked for him, I’d be questioning his messaging and what the organization is trying to achieve.

He ain’t no Steve Jobs or more recently Jensen Huang.
