Tiggers Troubled - review round 11 of 2024

wtf was The Prince of Perth thinking there ?

Guelfi…mate
The margin is 12 pts.
Go back and chew up at least 25 seconds before walking in slowly and get the ball all the way to the line or beyond to get a behind at worst.

Far out, that was awful.
Like Snelling against Freo in '21.

ha - ditto

Yeah Lav did a pretty good job in a 1v1 when Dusty Martin was deep in the forward line won some crucial contests

Yep, exactly.

I’d love to know who these people are on here who want us to lose. Intriguing stuff.

Seeing as 24 people liked the comment, a fair section of Blitz must actually believe this is the case too. Which is … interesting.

It’s the best position we’ve been in at this stage of the season for yonks. Bar maybe that Blackburn_Bomber poster and the couple of other known troll (non EFC) accounts, I don’t buy anyone wants us to lose.

He was, but he had plenty of mates. I thought quite a number of our players had near enough to season-worst games (e.g. McGrath back to his one-step dump kicking, Goldstein getting killed etc). If not for great games from Ridley and Laverde, that result could’ve been quite different.

Every time I see Massimo racking up cheap stats in the backline, I wonder why he couldn’t have been doing it for us, instead of Martin. I agree with WOB… Martin has more value elsewhere on the ground…

He was off even during the warm up.

Missing every short target kick.

That being said, he was one of the players that wasn’t well all week.

I thought we didn’t play players that weren’t 100%.

Yep it reminded me of zacha/Snelling.

Some blame should also go to Goldstein, the most experienced player in the team, who called for the pass.

Does anybody have a theory as to why we don’t seem to be able to thrash teams?

I wonder if behind closed doors this is a concern for Brad or whether he is happy to continue with 1-2 goal wins.

currently?

injury toll, relatively young midfield, and inconsistent or soft forward players, set up to keep other teams below 100 points

Brad somewhat addressed it during his presser. They could play attacking footy against more vulnerable teams and get the big score. But that would be moving away from the system they’re trying to establish.

So they’re trying to keep the same structure/approach for every game - to keep it consistent and build upon that within the playing group.

Good teams find a way to win despite not in the best form. I like what I am seeing so far.

The other stupid play was Martin

Handballs to Redman which he fumbles luckily the umpire intervined other wise that ball was going back the other way for a richmond goal

Back your self in Martin when in range and have the shot

the quality that is martin, means he can play a bit within himself and still be a certified weapon, especially if we move him to the wing and put someone else as HBF

@CJohns posted this on Twitter. Very interesting.

A few unwell mids with limited game time would explain the drop off in our clearances somewhat.

I’m not too worried about it. I’m enjoying winning more games than we lose. I think it will come as the team matures and realistically that might not be this year.

Not burying teams when we had the upper hand was a hallmark of the Worsfield - Rutten years. I think Brad just hasn’t made that a priority of area to improve yet. He’s been focusing on getting a consistent even level of performance with less Essington. Instilling a killer instinct will come later.
