Tiggers Troubled - review round 11 of 2024

Warm weather in gold coast should be good for them

I would say gameplan is based on defence. Also we don’t have a tall forward that can take a contested mark, or a small crumbing forward that can benefit from not having a tall forward that can’t take a contested mark.

Saving ourselves for GC and FC.

Got rid of Neeld and rolled Geelong the next week.

Not closing out games when we were in front under Rutten was a problem, but we definitely buried teams quite often when we did win. Under Rutten we had 18 wins.
2 x 70+, 2 x 60+, 0 x 50+, 2 x 40+, 2 x 30+, average winning margin 32
Under Brad we’ve had 19 wins.
0 x 70+, 0 x 60+, 2 x 50+, 1 x 40+, 1 x 30+, average winning margin 20

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t yearn for the days of a 75 point win sandwiched in the middle of four losses, but when bad teams let us do whatever we want, we did take the opportunity to slap them around.

Don’t tell me what to do! Rawr XD

Are you trying to be funny ?

Yeah it looked as though Martin drilled the handball to redman.

But redman shouldn’t be running so close to Martin anyway as it’s likely to get smothered by the man on the mark… needs to give himself a bit more width to avoid that.

i think it will happen once we can put all the components of our game together.

our stoppage game was flying earlier in the year but our defensive systems was a work in progress. no we’re getting the defensive aspects of the game right more often than we’re not but our stoppage game us fallen away significantly in the last few weeks. we went from beating the pies by 17 at stoppage, to breaking even with WC and GWS and losing badly to the tigers and norf.

if we get our stoppage game back and continue to defend the ground with a full strength back 6 we’ll wreck a few sides before long .

Geelongs midfield is bottom five without Danger

If Tigers play like they did at Dreamtime they are a sneaky chance of upsetting the Cats

Divergent coaches’ thoughts this week…

but which coach gave 4 and which gave 1?

Remember when we used to smash a team and then Essington would show up in the first quarter the following week?

Interesting if Scott gave Nankervis 4 points - would hopefully indicate something needs to be adjusted in the ruck space.

No love for Hind. Hmm

Because for 10+ years the rest of the competition have seen us regularly put in weak/dumb/arrogant/half-arsed efforts against cellar dwellers and get beaten. The bottom teams know they are a chance against us and raise their effort levels accordingly.

Titus O’Reily’s review:

Richmond (74) v Essendon (86)

Last week, I exclusively broke the news that Essendon are second on the ladder and I can confirm they are still there.

Like a dad in Sportsgirl, they look out of place in their surroundings and now it’s starting to get a bit weird.

This game didn’t make it look like they are really meant to be up there, as Richmond, who were embarrassed by the Suns the week before, really took it to them.

Now, you could say Richmond lifted after last week, but it’s more fun to say Essendon aren’t that good. It’s even more fun to say that to an Essendon supporter.

True to form, Richmond did injure a key player, with Shai Bolton going off with a concussion after being cleaned up by his own teammate.

To be fair to Essendon, they got the job done and celebrated the 200th game of everyone’s favourite player, Jake Stringer.
