My dad got to interview Paul McCartney and George Harrison when he worked for 3KZ in 64. More specifically, he was the sound recordist for the interview.
He said walking through the crowd out front of the Southern Cross hotel and being ushered straight into the hotel was one of the best experiences of his life.

Wow! There’s a great book just been released about their Australian tour in ‘64. Lots of details. Maybe your dad is mentioned. My dad was a cop and stood at the front of the stage at Festival Hall. Says he couldn’t hear The Beatles at all - just girls screaming non-stop.

Yeah, Dad saw The Beatles and Rolling Stones within 12 months of each other. He said the Rolling Stones were better only because you could hear them.

I, Springsteen fan, used to have a go at my brother, Dire Straits fan, that Knopfler was copying some of the Boss’s music. Yesterday I learnt that when making Romero and Juliet, Dire Straits were using the same producer and got Roy Bittan, the E Street pianist, to play piano. Wait till I tell my brother.
