When I first watched the video I thought he was training and not at an event. Seemed like a country paddock.

What a fantastic throw !!!

I don’t know how I’m so far behind on this thread. Hollingsworth such a good racer… held her position, elbowed he way out when she needed to. Fantastic run

Bruce has lost it in my opinion. They pulled the TV coverage commentary into the stadium which was just terrible. Ignoring that the commentary was not aligned with events as they actually occured, the swooning over Gout was too much. Bruce needed to calm down and actually sell the crowd on the fact that Kennedy was a high quality athlete in his career best form who would be a challenge for Gout in his first senior race. Instead his comments were a pre race coronation that was over the top

focusing on that wouldn’t have been bruce’s decision

And a couple more

Meyers is fantastic. The New Zealander set a 15yo world best in the same race…was Bruce onto that? Didn’t seem to be, but perhaps they didn’t give us the complete commentary.

O’Donnell is a cult hero, and super popular amongst the crowd in the stadium.

A great night, but cold, in a garbage stadium (thanks Eddie) with a meet named after a figure with far more ā€œstrandsā€ than EFC.

The Grand Slam athas stuff was ā€œlive to 189 countriesā€. Aus was right up there with North Korea in terms of broadcast. Amazing

For sure. But in the old days he’d hype it but intersperse the facts that the Track and Field fans needed, because he was the best. He’s probably still the best, but he’s not at the level he was.

What is going on with our athletes! Record after record and rising stars everywhere. Is it the announcement of Brisbane spurring them on, or are they spurring each other on?

I think the guy should be really really good if he can get the arthritic uric acid gout gout issues sorted

And on the other side of the world Matthew Denny just threw 74.25 in Discus to go #2 all time.

6 throws over 71 in one comp is just insane, given he hadn’t broken 70 until a week ago!!!

That is genuinely mind-blowing.

Of all the burly, juiced up Eastern Europeans who have owned the sport and done their thing for decades, an Aussie, and seemingly a cracking bloke too, is number two of ALL TIME?! Nuts!!!

Very pleased for him and I hope he ends up with a global gold medal before he hangs them up.

Sensational! We stayed in the little town of Allora Qld where he grew up and there was plenty of praise and pride shown for him.

Lachie Kennedy ran 10.00 legal in the heats today.

Expect to go faster in final.

Love watching the athletics but geez 7plus is difficult to navigate and to get a true program guide.

Browning won 100m Australian title 10.01 just piping Kennedy on the line.

Jess Hull was impressive in 1500m. Held off A couple of girls who were sitting right behind her.

Torrie Lewis won women’s 100m title, But 17 year old O’Brien Almost pinched it.
