Dylan says he wrote his first just released it second, but I agree it is fairly close.
Track 13.
Just in case you thought you were done with tough choices.
- If I Needed Someone
- Got To Get You Into My Life
lol.
I voted on that and immediately regretted my choice.
My vote definitely swayed by the modern lense of problematic lyricsâŚ
Thanks for playing.
Iâll be interested to see who âwinsâ.
Not suggesting this format decides which is the better album at all.
Fun, though.
I meanâŚyeah but nah.
Even without that, itâs not great.
Edit: lol. Did you just like and unlike twice?
The lyrics are offensive. But they could be Shakespeare and the song wouldnât match TNK.
Blitz sometimes gets BORKED for me with likes, quotes etc being one post out of sequence.
Edit, was actually trying to like both and the system processed that as agreeing with saucy on our immigration policy. BORKED.
Track voting was hard enough!
Bonus round. Best album cover.
- Rubber Soul
- Revolver
Track 4 Nowhere Man v Love You To: Easy win for Jeremy Hillary Boob given the lack of competition- a sitar canât save every dirge.
And finally finallyâŚ
Regardless of how you voted, which is the better album?
- Rubber Soul
- Revolver
Why do I feel like I just beat my child while itâs sibling watched?
Iâm not trusting my counting, but I currently make itâŚ
6.5 Rubber Soul
7.5 Revolver.
Goodnight all.
5 Think for Yourself v Here There and Everywhere
TFY too slick for HTEâs warm fog
6 The Word v Yellow Submarine
Tough battle, I like the tight Biblical hippieness of the Word over the singalong power of YS
7 Michelle v She Said She Said
Michelle is a beauteous chanson but once that guitar spiral hits I am right into SSSS
8 What Goes On v Good Day Sunshine
Funny how both albums often decline at the same time- Ringo does this style much better on Donât Pass Me By, Good Day Sunshine is the middling midpoint between Here There⌠and Got to Get YouâŚ
9 Girl v And Your Bird Can Sing
Another clash of the titans, Girlâs lyrics sparkle but AYBCS bursts out as a happier version of She Said She Said. Bird Can Sing is another track with a glorious take on Anthology.
10 Iâm Looking Through You v For No One
For No One streets ahead, thanks to Jane Asher for inspiring this and You Wonât See Me
11 In My Life v Dr Robert
Much as I like guitars, IML is a superior ballad (212 cover versions) while Robert PhDâs writing is a frenetic scrawl.
12 Wait v I Want To Tell you
Another dip in proceedings, both sound like an urgent message but Waitâs tight SOS works a little better than the breathy languor of IWTTY.
13 If I Needed Someone v Got To Get You Into My Life
George is so offhand compared to the big Tom Jonesy joy of Got To- itâs no contest.
14 Run For Your Life v Tomorrow Never Knows
R4YL is a bit scary and not much of a track- TNK might be overrated but it innovates and tantalises with more to come. Revolver with the win again.
Now that was a lot of fun!
Impossible to separate
I Want To Tell You is a bit underrated I reckon. Also a nice riff to play.
Some obvious choices, some impossible.
I LOOOOVVVVEEE mid-period Beatles (RS to MMT inclusive) with Revolver (including Paperback Writer / Rain) the all-time peak for me.
